Hocho Knights, an electronic project out of Toronto began as a series of experimental recordings in the winter of 2012. The first single "Hidden Worlds" combines ethereal melodies with a strings and rhythm section that create a deep dark dance track. The initial single paved way and gave name to the project's debut EP "Hidden Worlds", released May 2013.
Hocho Knights has since released singles that include "Lum," an enduring track that juxtaposes arpeggiated 8-bit tones with swelling synths and choral vocals. "Veep" draws the listener into a trance-like state as basslines rife with countermelodies alternate between ticking and chugging.
Hocho Knights began as a solo project by producer Christine Leithead and features Greg Hounsell (of Brutal Youth) on drums, and other guest accompaniment during live performances. Leithead's career began in Toronto's underground scene as a bass player but her focus and influences evolved. The complexity of each track within the EP displays her knowledge and passion for different genres.
Hocho Knights attests to the struggles an artist faces with creative evolution.
