"CANADIAN ROCKERS HOLLOWICK SET TO RELEASE THEIR NEW ALBUM: BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE"

Oshawa natives, Hollowick (formerly Rides Again) are set to release their new album, Beautiful People (Aquarius Records / Unidisc), to iTunes on June 7, 2011 and in stores on June 14, 2011. Produced by Darryl Romphf (Hail The Villan), their new 10-track album showcases the bands evolving sound and songwriting abilities in the pop-rock genre. The first single off the new release, There Goes Another One, features a radio re-mix by Canadian producer, engineer and mixer Mike Fraser (AC/DC).

“We’re excited to get this new record out to our fans. We put a lot of love into it, and I think it shows,” says Nathan Peyton (lead vocals / guitar). With this release, we plan on touring vigorously, giving music fans something worth remembering.”

In September 2010, Hollowick released a self-titled EP that includes four songs off the upcoming album. The lead single off the EP, Time Bomb, also mixed by Mike Fraser, is a straight up rock anthem. In the four years since the release of their debut album, Into Existence, brothers Nathan and Chad Peyton have covered a lot of ground, playing over 200 shows across Canada, including supporting shows for high profile rock acts such as Theory of a Deadman, Hedley, The Trews and Three Days Grace. Breaking the top 20 on Canadian rock radio and prompting millions of hits on their MySpace page with the hit single Infected, the band garnered critical acclaim as one of Billboard Magazine’s Top Emerging Artists in 2008, in addition to being nominated for a 102.1 The Edge Casby Award and a Canadian Radio Music Award in the category of Best New Rock Group.

Hollowick are brothers Nathan (lead vocals / guitar) and Chad Peyton (background vocals / bass), Anthony Moreino (drums) and Luc LeDoux (guitar). In support of the new release, the band will be playing dates across Ontario this summer.

"Hollowick returns to the scene with “Beautiful People”"

At a time when many bands ‘polish’ their sound so routinely with digital technology, both live and on record, Hollowick (formerly Rides Again) are a bit of a rarity – a road ready rock band in the classic sense of the words who’ve relentlessly honed their chops and their sound the old fashioned way.

In the three years since the release of Into Existence, their 2007 debut album as Rides Again, Oshawa, Ontario based brothers Nathan (guitars/lead vocals) and Chad Peyton (bass/vocals) have covered a fair bit of ground; playing in excess of 200 shows across Canada on their own and in support of high profile acts including The Trews, Three Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman and Hedley, breaking the top 20 on Canadian rock radio and prompting millions of hits on their Myspace page with their singles Wonder Why and Infected. In addition, the band has garnered critical acclaim as one of Billboard Magazine’s Top Emerging Artists in 2008 and winning nominations for a 102.1 The Edge Casby’s and a Canadian Radio Music Award in the category of Best New Rock Group.

Over the decade the Peyton brothers have been playing together they’ve become a blazingly tight musical unit. Now, with a new name, new lead guitar player Luke LeDoux, and a freshly inked deal with Aquarius Records, Hollowick admit they’ve pushed the reset button in a big way for their follow up record, Beautiful People. But even with all the changes, at the core their ethic and their sound remain honest, straightforward and raw.

Recording in Toronto’s Vespa Studios with producer, Darryl Romphf (Hail The Villain) Beautiful People is a relentless ten-song set that mines a deep well of influences ranging widely from modern pop punk to the iconic hard rock and metal of the past. “The way we sound and how we play isn’t something we’re going for,” says Nathan. “It’s just who we are and what we’ve always been.”

If anything, they’ve committed themselves to an even greater level of authenticity on Beautiful People. “This record is more performance based,” Chad says, “and that will definitely translate live.”

As aggressive musically as they are lyrically, Hollowick tread the line neatly between the Alt. Rock/pop punk of the likes of Green Day and Foo Fighters, and the vintage arena rock of guitar driven bands from the 1970and ‘80’s, but with a style and sound that’s all their own.

Though the band is taking a bit more time in the studio this time to experiment, Beautiful People's upcoming single There Goes Another One and blistering album tracks like Just Another Day and Taking Me Over still depend heavily on Hollowick’s signature mix of crushing guitar riffs, blindingly tight harmonies and economical punk rock arrangements – hook laden, raw boned rock sporting the kind of fist pumping choruses that will have you screaming your lungs out midway through your first listen.

Bio

Nathan Peyton knew what he wanted from an early age. He wanted to become a great guitarist, write great songs and form the kind of band that would impress the Hell out of one person: Nathan Peyton. With the release of the new album by Hollowick, Nathan has taken a very big step towards realizing his goal.

Getting to this point has involved a lot of steps. There were skills that required thousands of hours to hone. There were lots of musicians who were a part of the story. One in particular, his younger brother Chad, was around from the very start. With a dogged determination and musical talent that must run in the family, Chad went from being the little brother who would fill-in at rehearsals to becoming the bass player and band-mate of choice.

Together, the Peyton brothers made their reputation as players in the Oshawa/Durham region as they rocked their way through their teenage years. In 2007 they “went national” with their band, Rides Again, released “Into Existence” on Last Gang Records. The album was produced by Rides Again, Harry Hess and Gavin Brown who captured the band’s sizzling energy on a nine-song set. Rides Again then hit the road with direct support for Hedley and Theory of a Deadman. The chemistry with audiences was immediate. The band was conceived to realize a musical vision but Rides Again music was also accessible and appealing. The entertainment factor was not contrived. The band was having fun and that spirit was contagious. The first single, “Wonder Why” did well and the follow-up, “Infected” did even better cracking the national Top 20 at Rock radio. Nominations at the Canadian Radio Awards and The Casby’s followed and Billboard cited Rides Again as a one of Canada’s emerging artists.

There would be a few curves in the road before the Peyton’s would release their next album. First Mike left the group to continue his education. As the new material took form it was clear that the songwriting had gotten stronger and more confident. But as the group headed in to the studio with producer Darryl Romphf and a new drummer they needed to make an important decision. The name “Rides Again” was too close to Chicago’s “Rise Against” (a band that has a ten-year head start.) If Rides Again had any plan to play our outside of Canada, this would be a serious problem.
By the time Eric Ratz was putting the finishing touches on the mixes for the new album the announcement was made that Rides Again had become “Hollowick”. The group also decided that the addition of a fourth member would let the live show do justice to the new album’s more complex arrangements. Hollowick would feature Nathan Peyton and Luke LeDoux on guitars, Chad Peyton on bass and Frank Goerz on drums.

Entitled “Beautiful People”, the debut album by Hollowick, has just been released on Aquarius Records. The release is supported by a timeless power ballad “There Goes Another One”. The single features a radio re-mix by Mike Fraser (AC/DC) and it features all the strengths of the band: inspired vocals, powerful playing and outstanding songwriting.
