Hollow Road

BandRockAlternative

A young, ambitious band with a new rock-acoustic-pop-blues kind of sound that will catch your ear and your breath. Melodic, grooving songs about life, love, and the world in general.

Biography

Hollow Road is an aspiring young rock band from Lancaster, New Hampshire formed in the summer of 2005 by brothers Ian and Zeb Galipeau. After stints with two other drummers, the band’s lineup was finalized with the addition of Justin Gregory in June of 2007. Despite their youth, the group has consistently received praise of their performance and writing capabilities as being well beyond their years. With a song list full of entertaining covers ranging from The Beatles to Green Day to Bob Marley, as well as their stylistically diverse original material, Hollow Road can fill an evening with music for all ages. The band’s instrumental foundation combines Justin’s confident and dynamic drumming, Zeb’s masterful bass work, and Ian’s blues-driven lead and rock-solid rhythm guitar into the perfect frame for the group’s powerful and intense vocals. The trio is regularly accompanied by the smooth keyboard playing of Aly Ryder, whose contributions mix seamlessly with the band’s overall sound, providing depth and drive exactly where it is needed.

With audible influences from Dave Matthews, Jimi Hendrix, Dispatch, the Beatles, and Tom Petty, Hollow Road combines their own catchy melodies, tight harmonies, and unique instrumentation into a new blend of alternative rock.

Hollow Road was recently both honored and surprised to win the Kelley's Cause Battle of the Bands in Keene, NH on April 12th. For more information on the contest, please see http://www.myspace.com/kelleyscausefoundation

Free of You

Written By: Ian Galipeau

Finally I’m coming clean
You’re the feather that broke my burdened back
An actor arrived on the scene
The moment before the stage went black

Take a good look at the man that you see
I’m out of your snare and I’ve set myself free

Breakin’ up I’m fallin’ down
I’m cavin’ in and I’m screaming out
Never again do I hope to feel this way
You break my heart and waste my time
I’m through with this you crossed the line
I’m leaving headin’ out on my own way

A whole lot of nothing to say
I wish that I could rewind this track
Backwards through all of these days
Until I could take the whole thing back

Take a good look at the man that you see
I’m out of your snare and I’ve set myself free

Breakin’ up I’m fallin’ down
I’m cavin’ in and I’m screaming out
Never again do I hope to feel this way
You break my heart and waste my time
I’m through with this you crossed the line
I’m leaving headin’ off on my own way

We’re coming down we’re falling fast
Caught inside this hourglass
Grasping to be free of this pain

The Call

Written By: Ian Galipeau

Such broken love, such broken time
Everything seems to be falling apart
This world so lost, this world so torn
Turned to nothing right before our eyes

Hear this calling, please hear this calling
Open your eyes and see the light
Our fathers, mothers, sons and daughters
Need us to make things right

And if we watch, then so we’ll fall
Bad things happen when good men do nothing
To hear my voice, to raise the call
As a thousand voices rise up singing

Hear this calling, please hear this calling
Open your eyes and see the light
Our fathers, mothers, sons and daughters
Need us to make things right

Nevermore

Written By: Zeb Galipeau

I can't think straight
I need to medicate
I can't see you anymore I
Feel like I'm floating so far away from here
So far away, nevermore

Jealousy, pain pouring down like the rain does
Need to find again it's lost like true love
Need to find a place to lay my head
Need to find a place to turn up dead

I need you by my side
Need to find a place where I can hide
People are rejecting me
Get away now you're infecting me

Jealousy, pain pouring down like the rain does
Need to find again it's lost like true love
Need to find a place to lay my head
Need to find a place to turn up dead

Death comes on a swift wing
Listen to his song listen to him sing
Listen for the knock upon your door
Listen for the sweet song, nevermore

Jealousy, pain pouring down like the rain does
Need to find again it's lost like true love
Need to find a place to lay my head
Need to find a place to turn up dead

Rok

Written By: Ian Galipeau/Zeb Galipeau

Late at night gonna go downtown need to find a place where I can go rock out now
Let me in I'm coming through, yeah, nothing's gonna get between me and you, girl

Rock your knees out from underneath you, rock so hard that the world seems to sway

We're gonna rock this party so damn hard
And no one can stop us
Just keep on rockin' on and on

Breakin' out I don't waste much time if you give me the room I'm gonna cross that line now
Let me show you what I mean by the masters of the music scene, now

Rock your knees out from underneath you, rock so hard that the world seems to sway

We're gonna rock this party so damn hard
And no one can stop us
Just keep on rockin' on and on

Here We Go

Written By: Ian Galipeau

Looking into your eyes
Nothing keeps me from falling
Don't know where we are
Don't know who we are tonight

And here we go
Yes here we go
Again

You and I feel so right
Nothing else seems to matter
And we feel so close
Oh we are so close tonight

And here we go
Yes here we go
Again

And I can barely see
Where you end, where I begin
Here with you next to me
Got to hold on, got to hold on to you

And here we go
Yes here we go
Again

Discography

We have yet to publicly release any original material. We have recorded a demo which we finished in February 2008.

Set List

A typical show consists of a mix of covers and original material split into 3 hour-long sets. Our cover material is generally a mix alternative, classic rock, pop punk, and acoustic rock enjoyable for all ages.

Originals:

Rok - a fun, nu-blues kind of song that will get the party started...

Nevermore - a very catchy and emotional hard rock song with dynamic harmonies and a driving beat

Slow Down - the classic "seize the day" theme encapsulated in a driving, syncopated chord progression with a catchy hook

Runnin’ Blues - a heavy, in-the-pocket blues song dedicated to the timeless Robert Johnson

Look at You Now - there are just some things you can't control in life... This is the subject of this upbeat, Semisonic-esque tune

Here We Go - a melodic, simple love song

The Call - a moving, memorable song with a simple message: the world isn't the way it should be, so do something to make it better.

Fall From Grace - a melodic and intensely dynamic ballad about an e
