Holly Cormier
Holly is a young aspiring musician/artist who resides in the Nashville area. It seems the older she gets, the more she falls in love with singing and performing. She participated in GMA's Music in the Rockies 2007 , in which she advanced in her category of 60 contestants becoming one of fifteen semi-finalists. Most recently, she was one of ten semi-finalists during the Oct. '07, of Gospel Music Association's Nashville regional competition for artist/soloist.
Holly generally performs as part of the school's Chamber Choir. In previous years, Holly was able to be involved in many different musical activities: placing 1st in the Wilson Co. fair, 2 yrs. consecutively, as well as winning talent catagory at Nashville Tennessee State fair. She has also been a semi-finalist in the Exaulting Him competition and Point of Grace's "Girls of Grace 06" teen competition in Knoxville.
Holly's ability to play guitar and piano while singing landed her a role in the Nashville Stages Theatre production of "Smoke on the Mountain" where she, as only a twelve yr. old, played the part of 17 yr. old Denise Sanders. This play also allowed Holly to learn to play an upright bass. Also, Holly was lead trumpet and vocalist for her previous school's jazz group, which recorded 2 C/D's.
Holly has also been given the gift of an awesome "home church". Here she is given the great experience of working with Dove award winning, southern gospel producer, Kevin Ward, as well as her Worship Leader, Russ Lee, a former member of the group Newsong and Sparrow recording artist, . Holly is a current member of church choir and adult praise team, both under the direction of Russ Lee.
She co-wrote her first song with Kevin Ward, and entered it in the Tennessean newspaper's Star Idol Competition, where it won first place. The prize for winning was free studio recording time at Martina McBride's Blackbird Studios.
Producer Steve Dady is responsible for Holly's latest demo, which includes another original, "Can't Escape". She hopes that in the future she will be able to record a full album of original material.
Holly has a new music video for the Christmas song "A Cradle in the Shadow", which has been submitted to the Gospel Music Channel, and is anticipated to be viewed on their show of aspiring new artists during the 2007 holiday season.
