Press:

“Holy Mountain are relentless in their performance and Rock Sound are in awe of their resplendent ear-bleeding sound. Frontman Andy McGlone’s guitar playing is the perfect call back to life affirming bands such as Black Sabbath, while drummer Pete Flett plays with such strength it can only be described as exacerbated destruction, his precision and control metronome-like.”
– Rock Sound

“Armed to the teeth with an arsenal of sludgy heavy grooves, down-tuned blues riffage and an unrelenting penchant for improvised noise, Holy Mountain are an intriguing prospect in this time of continuous heavy metal/hardcore regurgitation. With live sets consisting of performances that can rarely be contained on stage and more often than not spill out into all corners and confines, Holy Mountain are unpredictable to say the least.”
– The List

"Push the stylus down during your favourite Fucking Champs number and you’ll damn near hear Holy Mountain. Drummer Pete Flett’s limbs flail faster than the camera can catch while the two-headed beast’s guitarist stands – foot clamped to stage monitor – clad in headband and wife-beater garb, both hell-bent on inducing tinnitus with a slew of doomy stoner freakouts.
For the uninitiated, Holy Mountain have been shaking loose light fixtures and teeth to fervent reactions for the last four months. Stories of multiple shows in one night and performances in vans winding through city centres are already passing into folklore. Walls of guitar collapse onto the scattered rubble of drums, both frantic and precise. Tempos undulate from treacle slow to torrential."
– The Skinny

“Holy Mountain are a riff monster that slay all in their path. Their shows have earned a reputation for unconventional off-stage setups and improvised frenzy-provoking riffage. Glasgow's garage rock sensation are cooler, heavier, more dangerous and sweatier than you'll ever be.”
- Winning Sperm Party

“The bombastic trio complete with white vests and cavemen appearance immediately launch into a deafeningly
raucous performance. The complex guitar riffs, huge rhythms and undeniable musicianship that this group deliver
is full of gargantuan power. If orgasms were rock music then this would be it.”

Bio

Starting out as a duo in 2008 on many diverse bills and in strange locations (skate-ramps, vans, fashion stores and bar-tops), aided by a 50ft guitar lead and a minimal drum kit. Joined one year later by Allan Stewart of Idlewild and Desalvo, the band gained a ‘fuller’ sound.

After releasing EPs on DIY labels, the band recorded a full album of material in Glasgow’s Diving Bell Lounge studio with Marcus Mackay (Frightened Rabbit/Reindeer Section) that was mixed and mastered by Iain Cook of Aereogramme/ The Unwinding Hours. The first full-length LP to be released in December 2011, with pre-production already underway for the follow up to be released in May 2012.

Tipped by BBC Radio 1 as ‘ones to watch’ in 2011 the band have played alongside many contemporaries, including:

Shrinebuilder (US, Neurot)
Tweak Bird (US, Souterrain Transmissions)
Electric Eel Shock (JAP, Roadrunner Japan)

Commanechi (UK, Loose Lips Sink Ships)
Stinking Lizaveta (US, Monotreme)
