"Premiere: Hear Homme's Excellent New Song 'Fingerprints""

Having already made traction for themselves in the Windy City, Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart of Homme are ready to break out past Chicago’s borders. The indie rock duo, which also incorporate folk and traces of Irish music into their work, are releasing their debut project later this spring, with the lead single “Fingerprints” premiering here on BlackBook.

Guttural guitar strums played with suspense-building angst, carry the girls’ vocal into a dissected choral drop, taking a break at one point for whispery harmonies and mellowed out chords. About the meaning and creation of the song, Cunningham says,

“Fingerprints started as a song that came together from some loosely scattered images I actually had while singing with (but mostly listening to) Daniel Knox at Intuit. It’s loosely about very much wanting to be better for an important person in your life. What was exciting about that song was that it started as a very piano driven song but I wanted to bring it to Homme and with Macie we really changed the arrangement dramatically, between the hocketing and the sort of driving guitars and the spaced out freeze pedal on the guitars and vocals. It ended up capturing the feeling of struggle interspersed with moments of pure joy.” - Blackbook Magazine

Still working on that hot first release.
