Honey Larochelle comes out of the gates swinging and swooning on her new EP, HIJACK. Since her years fronting the Brand New Heavies and backing Roberta Flack, Joss Stone, and Macy Gray, Honey has started out on her own path with a new sound. Honey blends her soulful melodies over beats by Frank Royal, Primal Luxe, Snareophone and Luxe Laredo to move us through a palate of sounds that lean towards grime, trap, drum and bass, moombahton and even some RnB. The almost banned (very suggestive) music video for the single Hijack was directed by Kyrian Bobeerian, the visionary behind the colorful performance group, “The Fungineers.” He is also the featured vocalist on the Bassnectar song “Kyrian Bee Bop.” The video takes us on a sensual adventure through a colorful naughty victorian style party. Think Marie Antoinette meets Alice in Wonderland. Please enjoy this very sexy new release. Thank you for helping us share independent music with the world. - Fiona Bloom

Listen to the overly professional produced album Hijack with influences from R&B to electronic blended with dubstep and breaks that melt into delirious pop elements.

Bio

Honey Larochelle

Mellissa Mya Larochelle, known professionally as Honey Larochelle, is Vancouver bred, Texas raised, Florida reformed and Brooklyn saved singer, songwriter, producer and arranger. Born to a single mother who is also a professional singer, Honey literally grew up in rehearsals studios, recording sessions and backstage at shows while on the road with her Mum. Performing and singing are in her blood.
Beyond performing, Honey’s passion for the architecture of music as well as her gift for song writing has led her to write, arrange and produce vocals for several artists, including Jennifer Hudson. Hudson says, “I’ve never seen anything like her. She just asked me a few questions about myself and my life, and next thing you know she had a verse and hook written.” ??Honey has impressed her peers for many years and is considered an established collaborator and respected producer as well as a solo artist. She is a full time working artist focused on mastering her craft.
Over the last 7 years Honey has been signed to Macy Gray, traveled the world with The Brand New Heavies and Joss Stone, shared the stage with many greats including John Legend and Patty Labelle, and is now the protégé of the great Roberta Flack. Her writing and arranging credits are extensive, including Glee, Tyler Perry films and Macy Gray’s album “The Sellout.” As a session singer, she’s worked with many well-known names including Donny Osmond and Tom Jones, to Allen Stone, Bilal and Omar.
After years of touring, writing, producing and arranging (over 200 songs and counting), Honey is finally releasing her very own, first solo album "The Yes Feeling." This grown n’ sexy exposé showcases a 4 octave vocal range and embraces the lusty songwriting and production skills of a seasoned pro. “The Yes Feeling" is about the transitions, stages and chapters of love. “It may be with your mother, your money or your lover, but in “Love” we all turn the page at one time or another,” states Honey. Her warm and edgy mash-up of classic soul, funk, r&b and reggae triggers a nostalgic reminiscence of the “old school” even as it sparkles with a fresh twist on today’s sound; it explores a new fun and sexy side of soul.
The album is being released on her own joint venture Butter Fly Soul Records through a partnership with industry veterans Brett Wright and Jon Mansfield. The funding has come from Kick Starter.
