Hoodoo Papas

BandAmericanaBlues

From the heart of Louisiana, Rick Seale and Rick Woodward are just two regular guys, but with guitars in hand, they can turn an entire room into a raging fire of blues and rock. Armed with their own brand of Americana, this award winning songwriting duo is a powerhouse of musical soul.

Biography

With their recordings and live shows, the Hoodoo
Papas have made a name for themselves as audiences line up to feast their ears on genuine Hoodoo “acoustic gumbo,” a spicy blend of rock, folk and country.
The two Ricks have been playing and writing music together for 12 years, and their Americana sound has been pulling in fans and listeners every step of the way. Their first CD, Mojo Hat, earned rave reviews from audiences and critics alike, even catching the ear of blues legend BB King. Pulling inspiration from countless artists, from Jim Croce to Johnny Cash and James Taylor, the Hoodoo
Papas simmer out a sound that carries any listener right down to bayou country.
The Hoodoo Papas are currently promoting their new album, Past Due, and they’re bringing the gumbo along with them. With deep-driving riffs and a down-home attitude, the new release brings in the culture of their native Louisiana and sits any fan down for a wild ride of down-home soul. Listening to the burning tunes on the CD, there’s no question that these two love and respect their music, and they turn that love into a real good time for everyone.
If you’ve been looking for that genuine sound with that real Delta feel, you can find it in the Americana grooves of the Hoodoo Papas. Just look for the tapping toes and listen for those dangerous guitars, and these two bayou masters will show you a side of Louisiana blues you’ll never want to come back from. There’s no better taste than
that acoustic gumbo, and there are no better chefs than the Hoodoo Papas.

Easy Goin' Man

Written By: Rick Seale & Rick Woodward Copyright 2004

If the world has got you full of doubt
And you can't figure out how to figure it out
You might need somebody to come up with a working plan
Here's some real information, you need an easy goin' man

And I'm and easy goin' man, I'm an easy goin' man
If you want some one to hold you tight
If you need somebody who can stay all night
Take my hand, I'll be your easy goin' man

I got a lived in house, I drive a lived in car
I don't go too fast, I don't go very far
But I'm a steady roller who can take you to the promised land
I'm your soul solution, I'm an easy goin' man

And I'm and easy goin' man, I'm an easy goin' man
If you want some one to hold you tight
If you need somebody who can stay all night
Take my hand, I'll be your easy goin' man

Bridge:
Don't worry over every little this and that
The easy way is better it's a natural fact
If one little worry slips through your door
Before you know it, it wants more, more, more

Ride

I'm and easy goin' man, I'm an easy goin' man
If you want some one to hold you tight
If you need somebody who can stay all night
Take my hand, I'll be your easy goin' man
Take my hand, I'll be your easy goin' man

Getting Your Signal

Written By: Rick Seale & Rick Woodward Copyright 2003

When we walk down the street you won't hold my hand no more
And you won't let me kiss you when I get you to your door
I might be wrong but when I hold you, you pull away
When I ask you what's wrong you just say you're having a real bad day

Did you think I wouldn't notice
Did you think I wouldn't notice
I'm getting your signal

You're getting late phone calls and I'm not on the other end
When I ask you "Who's that" you just say it was a real close friend
I don't know to take it but I can feel the walls closing in
And the tone of your voice is saying I don't want to talk about it again

Did you think I wouldn't notice
Did you think I wouldn't notice
I'm getting your signal

Did you think I wouldn't notice
Did you think I wouldn't notice
I'm getting your signal

You go out at night and say you that you went out alone
But when you move in close, I swear I smell that cheap cologne
I might be paranoid but we don't make love no more
And it takes you two hours just to run to the corner store

Did you think I wouldn't notice
Did you think I wouldn't notice
I'm getting your signal

Did you think I wouldn't notice
Did you think I wouldn't notice
I'm getting your signal

Chasing Your Ghost

Written By: Rick Seale & Rick Woodward Copyright 2003

There's a new love in my life
Someone I finally found
I plan to make her my wife
But I still feel you hanging around

I'm chasing your ghost; you're not really here
I can't explain why I still care
You're the one thing that I miss the most
I'm chasing your ghost

Here I am thinking of you
Lying right here by her side
Don't know what I'm going to do
'Cause you still have my heart and my mind

I'm chasing your ghost; you're not really here
I can't explain why I still care
You're the one thing that I miss the most
I'm chasing your ghost

You said it was over forever
You stood and walked out of my life
How can you say that we're not together
When I still feel you here every night

I'm chasing your ghost; you're not really here
I can't explain why I still care
You're the one thing that I miss the most
I'm chasing your ghost

House With the Red Light

Written By: Words and Music by Rick Seale and Rick Woodward Copyright 2004

Recorded Live At Ledbelly Concert 2/12/05

I'm going down to the house by the river
The house with the red light
I'm easing on down to the house by the river
The house with the red light

Going to the top of the stairs tonight; I've got to go see myself
Going to the top of the stairs tonight; I've got to go see myself
Because my father told me, my brother told me
My uncle told me, my cousin told me
To go on down to the house by the river
The house with the red light

Working all week to go to the river
The house with the red light
Saving my money to go to the river
The house with the red light

Going to the top of the stairs tonight; I've got to go see myself
Going to the top of the stairs tonight; I've got to go see myself
Because my father told me, my brother told me
My uncle told me, my cousin told me
To go on down to the house by the river
The house with the red light

There's a brown eyed girl down by the river
At the house with the red light
She's waiting for me on the stairs by the river
At the house with the red light

Going to the top of the stairs tonight; I've got to go see myself
Going to the top of the stairs tonight; I've got to go see myself
Because my father told me, my brother told me
My uncle told me, my cousin told me

Another Run Among the Ruins

Written By: Words and Music Rick Seale and Rick Woodward Copyright 2002

Recorded Live at Ledbelly Concert 2/12/05

Watch the rain gently falling
Out on Union Avenue
Almost see the ghost of Elvis
Cryin' over me and you

I can't stop these dreams I'm having
No one can save me from the truth
And every night, I'm back in the same old fight - taking
Another run among the ruins

They say this world keeps right on spinning
Keeps on spinning into space
But late at night, when I close my eyes
All I see is you walking away

I can't stop these dreams I'm having
No one can save me from the truth
And every night, I'm back in the same old fight - taking
Another run among the ruins

It’s the same sad old story
Walking in or walking away
The laughing dead, anxiety and dread
Victims of the game she plays - baby

I can't stop these dreams I'm having
No one can save me from the truth
And every night, I'm back in the same old fight - taking
Another run among the ruins

My Love Can't Hide

Written By: Words and Music by Rick Seale and Rick Woodward Copyright 2004

I wish I had some fancy words that I could say
Then I might have a story I could tell
Like the guys that sing about the one that got away
And how ever since they've lived their lives in hell
But my love can't hide, my love can't hide
I'd pull the moon down from the sky for you at night
My love can't hide, my love can't hide

Some people live as though love is their enemy
Some people say that love is never real
But when I see you lying right here next to me
I can't deny my heart the way it feels
'Cause my love can't hide, my love can't hide
Without you here I never would survive
My love can't hide, my love can't hide

My love can't hide, my love can't hide
I give up willingly to you and follow blind
My love can't hide, my love can't hide

I could never write a book of poetry
So many things that fade away with time
There are no words to say just what you mean to me
It's a matter of the heart not of the mind
My love can't hide, my love can't hide
One touch of your hand and I feel like I'm on fire
My love can't hide, my love can't hide
