Hooks Diesel

Born in Brooklyn, raised in Harlem by a single mother, Hooks (born Dorian Manson) was submerged into a life of harsh realities. The neighborhood in which he lived, was ravaged by drugs and violence. His mother, to protect him from this reality, raised him up in the church. There he enjoyed listening to the choirs and quartets, absorbing their energy and penchant for making uplifting music. In church, he played the Congo drums, which would later help influence his rhythm and rhyme style. Music became his passion and eventually Hooks began rapping and producing. Soon thereafter he began touring the underground circuit sharpening his pen and honing his skills. The balance of church and street had given him a perspective to speak from; one that is rare in our business today.

With faith in his talents, Hooks decided to create his own imprint, WaterPro A.M.G in 2003 based out of Yonkers, NY. On stage, Hooks has worked alongside the legendary D.J. Ron G. and lead guitarist Jon Buchwald. Behind the curtains and in the studio, Hooks has worked with many reputable and respected artists, producers and disc jockeys such as Red Cafe, Remy Ma, Sadat X, Max B. and Raekwon from the legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan., with mixtapes hosted by DJ Ron G and DJ Envy of Power 105.1FM in New York.

Hooks’ music can be described as thought provoking and timeless. His emphasis on melody and lyrics are easily what sets him apart. Not afraid to mix it up, Hooks is also very flexible in using musical influences from Gospel to Gangsta Rap. He has a welcoming tone with a refreshing delivery that leaves listeners wanting more.

Through his label, WaterPro AMG Inc., Hooks has a debut album entitled "Make It Plain", which he looks to distribute domestically and globally. He has also released a series of mixtapes titled "The PitchBook", which chronicles his life in the everyday struggle of trying to make ends meet.
