"The City Limits -4 song E.P."

"This Providence, Rhode Island-based band's influences are in the range of The Jesus and Mary Chain and Psychedelic Furs, filled with catchy guitar riffs, punchy vocals, and a production value that's just clean enough to leave the edges rough. On their debut EP, singer Paul Everett hits the highs and lows and if you don't have a tear in your eye during "Means to an End", you are dead inside. I considered running away from home after hearing it. Highly recommend to anyone interested in dramatic power rock." - junco tibet

Bio

After touring North America as second guitarist for Green Day in 2005, guitarist Terry Linehan (Waterdog, Frustrators) decided it was time to apply what he had learned and start a band in his native Rhode Island. Having spent months recording home demos, Terry realized he needed a top notch singer to accomplish his vision and turned to Paul Everett, whom he had long admired in bands such as Coat of Arms, Delta Clutch and The Blizzard of 78.
After months more of writing new songs, the two realized they had something great and recruited a band of Providence's finest. Guitarist Eric Fontana had made his name in local band Mother Jefferson, as well as being a first call studio musician (No Doubt, Dropkick Murphys, Avoid One Thing, The [Amazing] Royal Crowns). Jack McKenna, also of Mother Jefferson and Von Doom, had made the jump from drums to bass and was a perfect fit, as was Paul Myers, who had been bashing the drums in perfect time for Delta Clutch and The Blizzard of 78.
Showing influences such as Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure, The Clash, David Bowie, The Replacements, Generation X, Psychedelic Furs, Husker Du, U2, The Ramones, T-Rex, Brian Wilson, and The Ronettes, Hope Anchor has opened for several national touring acts, including White Rabbits and The Bravery and The Mooney Suzuki.
In April 2007, Hope Anchor recorded a four song E.P., “The City Limits,” with the legendary David Minehan (The Neighborhoods, Paul Westerburg) at his Woolly Mammoth studio (woollymammothsound.net) in Waltham, Ma., now on sale at amiestreet.com/hopeanchor, buzzplay.com/hopeanchor and myspace.com/hopeanchorri. Several of the new cuts have already gained prime time, lunch hour
airplay on 95.5 WBRU , Providences main alt-rock station, and one of the largest in the entire New England radio market. Hope Anchor are currently mixing six NEW songs , tracked at Woolly Mammoth with the mighty Sir Dave Minehan once again behind the board , due for a Spring 2010 full CD release.
Performing songs of a post-industrial, small city, their vision is to bring the characters that are Providence to life, in a way that honors Providence's history and tradition as one of the birthplaces of alternative music, while remaining universal and connected to anyone standing in the outer shadows of their own town, anywhere in the world.
