Bio

"Hope’s a female embodiment (and maybe even better version) of soul singer Amos Lee. It doesn't matter where you are when you hear her, that voice will melt you right into wherever you want to be." - UglyMag.com

Across the landscape of modern music, marinating in the place where folk and soul collide, you'll find Hope & Tim Glenn. Writing music and lyrics that embrace history, literature, politics, and love as inspiration, Hope & Tim are just beginning to tap into a wealth of songs that are dying to be the next piece to hit your eardrums.

Somewhere along the paths that follow Bruce Springsteen, Josh Ritter, Otis Redding, and Sam Cooke, these two musicians found each other. Without limiting themselves to folk, Americana or soul, Hope & Tim Glenn bridge these genres with their unique blend. Hope’s smooth and soulful voice is the perfect compliment to Tim’s unconventional sound, and their songwriting is thoughtful and inviting, with lyrics that command the listener to pay attention and melodies as easy to sink into as your favorite spot on the couch.

In 2010, only months away from finishing graduate school and exploring the possibilities that lay in front of them, Hope & Tim found themselves sitting at a Sundance screening for Troubadors, a documentary that follows the L.A. singer-songwriter movement that ignited the Troubador Club during the early 1970s. The story of struggle and accomplishment that artists like Carol King, James Taylor, Kris Kristofferson, and Jackson Browne expressed in their effort to do what they really loved, was overwhelming. Without needing to discuss much, it became obvious that creating a life in music was the path Hope & Tim needed to follow.

Writing music inspired by Folk and Americana icons, while speaking to the culture of today, questions certainly remain for this duo and their band. How do you find true inspiration from the musicians who have come before you, but also create something entirely new with your music? How do you combine hints of country with hints of gospel without replicating what’s already been done?

Simply put, how do you combine a woman who loves gospel, with a guy who loves folk? Hope & Tim Glenn are creating the answer.

Less than six months after their first release, a collection of 10 single take tracks called The Green Street Sessions, Hope & Tim Glenn have played in front of sold-out crowds with their band The Choral Copse, and continue to open for large touring acts in Salt Lake City. With a full studio album on the horizon, Hope & Tim Glenn are poised to make a big impact on 2012.

Hope & Tim have shared the stage with, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, John Heart Jackie, The White Buffalo, Listener, Aaron Strumple, Ryan Tanner, The Folka Dots, and many more.
