After being on the road for over two years and playing over 160 shows, Hornet, consisting of Joe Thompson (Vocals), Tollef Rikje-Pearson (Guitar), Max Thompson (Bass) and Alex Burt (Drums), have enthralled audiences across the United Kingdom having played sold-out shows at Soho’s 275 capacity venue The Borderline and the 250 capacity O2 Academy2 Islington.

'I believe that an audience will feel your passion and desire for music when they can see and feel that you're putting your all into each and every minute of your show' says Bassist, Max Thompson, 'and that's exactly what we do'

After the success of their first show at The O2 Academy2 Islington the band returned in September of that year to a huge reception. Pedro Ferreira, Producer/Engineer of The Darkness’ multi platinum selling album ‘Permission to Land’ said “Excellent live show... I see Second Hand Smoke as a big hit!”

February 2011 saw Hornet enter the studio to record their first EP with Producers Jason Wilcock (Fightstar, You Me At Six) and Tom Keech (Primitai) at London’s Stakeout Studios where the likes of We Are The Ocean and Pulled Apart by Horses have recorded.

After hearing Hornet’s EP – Pedro Ferreira said “I think your recordings sound great. You manage to capture all the energy of the band and that is the most important thing”. With the band releasing their debut single ‘Down To The Bone’ via iTunes, Play.com, HMV Digital and Tesco Entertainment the band also plan to enter the UK, US, Canadian and Irish Charts.

“We play straight down the line rock 'n' roll, as well as put on one hell of a show” adds Frontman, Joe Thompson. “It’s simple, tough and lascivious and the riffs hit you right in the gut”.

In April 2011 Hornet was added to the ‘A’ List on Hastings Rock 87.7FM, which broadcasts out to 280,000+ people in the towns of Hastings, Eastbourne, Battle, Bexhill and Rye, and has received extensive airplay and requests.

“We just wanna get up on stage every night and rip it up. The road to success is long and it’s tough but we’ve got what it takes” insists Guitarist, Tollef Rikje-Pearson. “I truly believe when you watch a live band you need to feel and see the music - you get that with us because our show has to be bang for the buck”.

Having played popular hometown shows such as The Crypt where the likes of Gallows, Ash, Electric Six and many more have played, Hornet have also shown they can grace the big stage having played The White Rock Theatre, The De La Warr Pavilion, The Underworld and many more established music venues across the United Kingdom.

After watching Hornet at The White Rock Theatre, John Wesley Harding – folk/pop singer who has reached the Top 10 of the US Modern Rock Charts said “The songs are really good and the more this band gets into the future, the better they will be. I’m sure they can go far”.

“We are a band that wants to last, a band that can stand the test of time, a band that will be here in 30+ years’ time and will be remembered for having made our mark on the world like the other rock giants remarks Tollef Rikje-Pearson. “We’re going to do it by working hard, by getting into people’s minds and not going away. We will prove to the world what we’re all about”.

Hornet are putting their blood, sweat and tears into their music career on and off stage and are aiming high to get a worldwide multi-album major record deal to help them become one of the biggest, multi platinum selling rock bands!
