When Tears Won't Fall

Written By: Brad Benge

Tuesday night I thought of crying
I was staring down a path of no escape
Tears wouldn't come, no point in trying
It hurt so bad a smile took their place
And the hardest pain is met with no resistance
With no one there and no one left to call
The body wants to cry, and the spirit wants to die
And what is there to feel when tears won't fall
The taste of tears can feed the sorrow
But empty smiles can bring the bitter end
No yesterday, no tomorrow
The hurt inside becomes a quiet friend
And the hardest pain is met with no resistance
With no one there and no one left to call
The body wants to cry, and the spirit wants to die
So what is there to feel when tears won't fall
Can I bear this cross
Can I make it through this loss
Years of your salvation left unsaid
But moments in my life
Can't make me turn my eyes from where I'm led
And the hardest pain is met with your resistance
I feel you there with no complaint at all
The body wants to cry, and the spirit wants to die
But what is there to feel when tears won't fall
What is there to feel when tears won't fall

We Don't Smell the Home Fires Anymore

Written By: Brad Benge

When I was a boy I used to dream of days to come
And through the fields and forests I would bound
I planned to dig a hole where someday I would go
And live beneath the old home underground

Always making plans for the future it seemed
But my visions never left my own back yard
As I began to grow I began to know
That a bigger better world lay in the cards

Home is just a place where people see your face
Hanging on a wall inside the door
People get around a little too far out of town
Returning to your roots becomes a chore
We don't smell the home fires anymore

Love and life will be as the currents of the sea
Rolling us beneath the churning tides
But through the danger there and the treasures we can share
We always come back to familiar skies

So remember when you're found in the comfort of the years
And the path your on seems truer ever day
They'll always be a spark to remind us of the dark
And the home you long to run to everyday

Home is just a place where people see your face
Hanging on a wall inside the door
People get around a little too far out of town
Returning to your roots becomes a chore
We don't smell the home fires anymore

Home is just a place where people see your face
Hanging on a wall inside the door
People get around a little too far out of town
Returning to your roots becomes a chore
We don't smell the home fires anymore

Returning to your roots becomes a chore
We don't smell the home fires anymore
