"Hostile @ the Roxy (Hollywood)"

One of the area's most original and talented young bands, Hostile (www.hostile420.com) returned to the stage here recently, and demonstrated once again why this is a band to keep an eye on.

Versatile vocalist Josh Jensen's convincing throat assaults and ace guitarist Rick Wood's speedy playing are key ingredients to Hostile's extremely heavy style. The headbanging Jensen is a wonderfully manic frontman, and effectively mixes up his vocals.
Songs from their current "Tainted With Honesty" CD were showcased here. The tunes are chock full of hooks and groove, without leaving a nasty commercial sounding aftertaste. - Rock City News / Jon Konjoyan

"Hostile live @ the Whisky a gogo"

Headliners Hemlock satisfied a packed Whisky recently with their aggro appeal. But solid up and comers like Klought and Hostile were also crowd pleasers, both delivering fine performances.
Hostile impressed with its headbanging new school death metal vibe. There music features cool jams and groove, but don't confuse it with "nu-metal." This is a rare band that plays catchy riffs without sounding too commercial.
Barefoot singer Josh Jensen's raw, manic vocals are another standout. Jensen led the band through tunes from it's excellent new "Tainted With Honesty" CD. - Rock City News / Jon Konjoyan

"Review from Heavy Metal Source"

A 3 song demo is now on the chopping block...welcome Hostile and their demo "Tainted with Honesty". My expectations from the bands logo was 'rap metal' but I was wrong. I would put them in the metal catagory by the display of the music on the demo. The disc gives a good taste of their musical talent and what the band has to offer. The 1st track "Tweaker Rage" is my favorite track and is fast as fuck with guitars plowing and drums pounding. Fuck, I have the lyrics in front of me and I still have problems figuring parts out. The other offerings are much more toned down. The vocals still stay brutal as shit, the guitars still have catchy hooks...they are all well rounded songs. These young guns are worth a listen. "HOSTILE CD REVIEW IN PIT"

CENTRAL CALI BASED HOSTILE HAS THEIR HEAVY METAL HEART IN THE RIGHT PLACE, WITH BADASS INFLUENCES LIKE GOATWHORE, ANAL CUNT, PANTERA, SLAYER, AND MUCHO PUFFS OF 420. AS YOU MIGHT EXPECT, THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT SOUNDS HERE. (THIS IS GOOD) JOSH JENSEN'S BLACK TOOTHED, EXORCISM-INDUCING VOCALS TAKE ENTERTAINING TWISTS AND TURNS AROUND THOUGHT PROVOKING LYRICS TO FAST, CATCHY DITTIES LIKE "TWEAKER RAGE" AND "HATE YOUR MONEY MAKER." MEANWHILE, CHRIS WATSON'S DRUMS PUMMEL AWAY, WHILE RICK WOOD AND JEREMY PATTERSON'S AXES RAGE ON. HOSTILE KICK OUT ALL THE STOPS IN THEIR LIVE SHOWS, HAVING FREQUENTLY APPEARED ON L.A.'S FAMED SUNSET STRIP ALONGSIDE THE LIKES OF ARMORED SAINT, CREMATORIUM AND VEHEMENCE. ONE OF THE BEST UNDERGROUND METAL CD'S RELEASED THIS YEAR.-JON"K"KONJOYAN

"Review from - Kristofer Upjohn"

A potent death/grind/black/thrash fusion, Hostile
certainly lives up to their name. While residing
mostly in mid-tempoland, there are scathing bursts of
grind speed, high-voxed ravings that are quite tasty.
But even when chugging along in midspeed, Hostile
never loses its heaviness, juxtapositioning highs and
lows (such as those rasping vocals against the bass
heavy production) and just generally being, well,
hostile. The music boasts an accomplished technicality
despite its grind influences and death metal fans are
certain to be horn-fingering in the air and whipping
heads into a frenzy.-Kristofer Upjohn
