"Hot Brown"

Hot Brown is made up of the Brown "cousins",Steve and Mike.They play acoustic blues in the tradition of Scrapper Blackwell and Leroy Carr as well as James Cotton and Muddy Waters.Steve Brown handles guitar and vocals.He is well known as the founder of the No Regrets Blues Band and as a contributor to the Yank Rachell Tribute album. Steve is also an actor partime and is somewhat famous for his Indianapolis Museum of Art commercial.Steve's nickname is Scrapper after the famous Indianapolis bluesman ,Francis "Scrapper" Blackwell.He has a powerful baritone voice that can go from raw-edged tosweetly tender in a moment.He is also well known for his outstanding single note and slide guitar styles.Multi-instrumentalist,"Professor" Mike Brown originally hails from Chicago where he grew up listening to Paul Butterfield and Otis Spann ,which influenced his harmonica and piano styles.He was later introduced to the old time blues of Leroy Carr and worked to incorporate that piano style into his playing.Later he heard Yank Rachell and developed his blues mandolin playing. - Indy Crossroads Blues Inc.

Hot Brown was formed by Mike and Steve Brown in the acoustic guitar/piano traditions of Leroy Carr and Scrapper Blackwell.Both influenced by the duo along with James Cotton,Muddy Waters,Son House ,Bukka White ,and James "Yank Rachell, among others.Steve is blessed with a powerful baritone voice which can go from raw edge to sweetly tender in a New York moment.Add to that over 44 years of acoustic, electric guitar experience
along with all the bumps in the road."Professor "Mike Brown hails from Chicago ,grew up listening to Paul Butterfield and Otis Spann and is a gifted multi-instrumentalist.Both the Browns are also accomplished songwriters and have appeared with numerous national and international artists.Hot Brown, always fun and party -makers ! 2008 Indiana International Blues Challenge Winners !
