Bio

Having formed in London in January 2007, Hot Wax and Champagne will be releasing their first single in the UK through the label Music Void distributed by Pinnacle, on July 28, 2008.

The band's sound is a blend of classic rock riffery and chiming melodically-driven songwriting, borrowing elements of soul, Rhythm & Blues and folk to create a contemporary, yet warm and familiar alternative rock sound. Fans of Hot Wax and Champagne have referenced The Eagles, REM and the Goo Goo Dolls when describing the band's appeal.

Hot Wax and Champagne's influences are rooted in the classic British bands of the 60's and 70's, including Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, The Who, Cream and Pink Floyd. Alternative US rock acts such as the Pixies, REM, Pearl Jam, Dinosaur Jnr, Stone Temple Pilots and Neil Young have also been highly influential.

The name Hot Wax and Champagne refers to the unlikely collaboration between founding members Keith Marsh and Robbie Leggat. Prior to their first impromptu jam together, they'd each been pursuing very different musical directions. Yet they both shared a passion for musical performance, and found that Keith's rock guitar style blended perfectly with Rob's funky, bluesy lyrical melodies and soulful, heartbroken vocals

In addition to the recordings that are set to be released in July, Hot Wax and Champagne have amassed a collection of around 50 songs and many more song ideas, riffs and chord progressions to draw even more material from. They also provided the music for a short documentary about the country of Iceland, which was broadcast across America this year.
