Bio

House of Whales, formerly known as Treehouse, is an alternative hip-hop group based out of Chicago. The band is preparing a string of regional shows across the US in preparation for its LP release. This record is a departure from the bands original sound and explores a multi-faceted approach to the hip-hop genre. Their 2012 EP, Tell No One, received much critical acclaim, including an Independent Music Award nomination.

Emcee Rico Sisney, bassist Mike Ruby and drummer Aunnoy Badruzzaman are poised to take over in a city whose hip-hop culture has been the topic of much discussion as of late, and is in dire need of unique, strikingly artistic blood. House of Whales organic approach allows for a rare unity of music. Spoken word lyricism is combined with various musical stylings to produce a truly unique sound. Although their music is created in-house, House of Whales does not forget the importance of artistic collaboration. The bands recordings feature multiple artists from a variety of genres to compliment the fundamental trio. And it's that kind of openness to a wide palette, and that kind of dedication to otherworldly, precise execution that makes House of Whales stand tall, and alone, in their field.

House of Whales has performed throughout Chicago, San Francisco, and Nashville, as well as in New York for CMJ 2012. With a new name and a fresh batch of songs, they are excited to get back on the road this summer. The bands full-length, self-titled LP is set to release in Fall 2014.
