"Review from Editor on Download.com"

“If Bright Eyes's Conor Oberst were 20 years wiser and two states more southerly, Howdy! is the band he'd be fronting. Though hailing from the Bay Area, Howdy! plays a stunning folk-country style that's Deep South all through, dominated by glowing guitars, backwoods truths, and quivering, utterly sincere vocals." - Download.com

"Don't miss these bluegrass Sleepers"

“I hear an element of the Violent Femmes mixed with some moonshine and roots, Appalachian bluegrass…say howdy to Howdy!” — The Telluride Watch, 6/17/05 - Telluride Watch

"Editor of Besonic.com"

“This very talented group of musicians have an accomplished sound, and this particular song boasts creativity in writing, to go along with the highly polished instrumentation. This is shining, stellar work.” - Besonic.com

Bio

Mixing equal parts black cat bone, whiskey and graveyard dirt, Howdy! conjures a strange invocation of bluegrass, folk and southern Americana; sometimes described as acoustic jam but best described as “Outlaw Folk”. Singing songs of dust and despair, angels and devils, redemption and celebration, Howdy! composes a liturgy of sound evoking earlier times whilst weaving music familiar yet altogether new.

Howdy! is Tennessee native Dave Nanstad on vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica, Southern California native Sean Hancock on mandolin and vocals, and Northern California native Aspen Stevenson on upright bass and vocals.

Revelers at Howdy! shows have been heard to exclaim...”they cast out devils and speak with new tongues..!”.
