How I Became the Bomb

How I Became the Bomb. Not a declaration of one’s social stature. Nor is it propaganda. Define, instead, as an not-entirely-indie pop assembly of sophisticated keyboards, frantic, sometimes disjointed shards of guitars, and robotic vocoders phantom powered by insatiable melodies and dance party drum beats. And, of course, a live show that cannot – and will not – be ignored. Noted Nashville alt.weekly, All The Rage says:

Murfreesboro’s How I Became the Bomb might be the most buzzed-about indie bands to emerge from the Boro since the Spongebath Records era and we wouldn’t be surprised to see their name start popping up on college radio playlists all over the country.

Released on May 13th, their debut e.p., Let’s Go!, has gained quick popularity with regional college and AAA radio as well as with local indie record shopping outposts (Grimeys, Grand Palace, etc.). Currently, the band is seeking more out-of-town exposure to promote Let’s Go!.

The album was recorded in the heart of Nashville’s legendary Music Row at Lake Fever Productions with The Nashville Scene’s 2005 Rock Producer of the Year, Jason Bullock (Pink Spiders, The Privates). The otherworldly packaging – which fuses Masonic imagery and mystique to high acclaim – was designed by the in-demand design duo, Michael Eades & Jamie Holland.

Band members Jon Burr, Denis Deck, and Andy Spore met in Murfreesboro at Middle Tennessee State University, and after inviting classically trained pianist/musical prodigy, Adam Richardson to join their minion, began to make music for the intrinsic pleasure it brings - or rather, just for fun. Maintaining the fun, but realizing the potential of their creative mix, they added bassman Ricky Bizness, and began their fated takeover of Middle Tennessee. Without haste, their elder scenesters quickly ushered them into the more difficult-to-book venues around the area. With the local community joining the ranks, How I Became the Bomb have decided to march onto the Southeast circuit, and eventually, the rest of the US and beyond.

Currently, How I Became the Bomb is touring overseas at Summercase Festival (Spain). And Latitude Festival in the UK, playing along side some of their influences such as Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips, Hidden Cameras, and Sparks to name a few.

Comparisons to bands like Devo, ELO, Pere Ubu, and The Cars keep rolling in, but all miss the mark and fail to encapsulate the original sound that the band have developed for themselves. The closest description?
