"CD Review: "Bender""

The band is able to capture a great bar-based atmosphere on the backing vocals and various hooting and hollering. From the sing-along choruses on the songs to people who sound like they’re just hanging out drinking, rocking out with the band. Kudos to Todd Stotler at Echos Recording in Sharpsburg for a good job in the studio.

The switching up of the singers, the fact that they each seem to have good songs, the appealing sound, the regional pride in the songs, and the bar-based atmosphere Hucklebuck nails make this CD way better than we anticipated. A good time to be had, listening to these dudes. Definitely worth checking out and picking up. - WVRockscene

"Hucklebuck- Bender"

"The opening riff of "Old Man Jack," the opening track on Hucklebuck's debut album Bender, is reminiscent of the outlaw country sound of the 1960s, a fitting beginning to an album that tours rock's roots in country music with a toe-tapping rhythm and, when necessary, their tongue planted firmly in their collective cheek." - lonelyfriday.org

"Who's on You Radar? Hucklebuck is now"

"This alt-country/roots rock fivesome brings so much to table. And instead of sticking with one sound and going with it, Hucklebuck delivers a little bit of everything, and they switch it up flawlessly." - thetranzmission.com

Bio

You might call Hucklebuck a happy accident. In 2008, when guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Helta consolidated a couple of weekly jam sessions, the result was an electric version of the outlaw country and rock standards they had been playing acoustically before in basements, living rooms, and around the occasional campfire. While vocalist Tim Smith transitioned to playing drums, guitarist/vocalist Jarod Brechbill and Helta began bringing original songs to the table. With songs written by Smith, bassist Danny Cumbo, and guitarist/vocalist Jon James also being thrown in the mix, Hucklebuck's Blue Ribbon Farm Rock sound began gaining momentum. After playing some house parties, the boys stepped up to clubs and festivals where they are continually becoming a staple of the Maryland music scene. In 2010, Hucklebuck recorded Bender, their debut album of 10 original songs which has been met with many accolades. 2012 promises to be a milestone year for this accidental band as they return to the studio to record their next album and look to step up to bigger stages and larger audiences.
