"Charilie King on Hudson Valley Sally"

"They light up the stage with a joyous energy. They breathe new life into old songs and make them sound brand new. Their roots are deep and their eyes are on the prize. They remind me of what a song can do and make me want to keep singing through good times & bad."
- People's Music Network Performance Summer 2012

"Si Kahn on Hudson Valley Sally"

"Hudson Valley Sally sings with a freshness and innocence that reminds us why we fell in love with folk music in the first place." - People's Music Network Performance Summer 2012

Bio

Their harmonies have been described as blending like brothers and sisters from the same home. Hudson Valley Sally is family with its own many legacies and skeletons, and music influenced by rich experiences that includes everything from life in a convent to time in jail. And family legacies that include a notorious suburban murder trial and combat in the trenches of Spain during their Civil War.

And like family, each member brings a unique and separate energy to their mix of old, new and original songs. Their mission is to inform and inspire and they do this in a most entertaining way.

The group is rooted in the tradition of activist folk music - an unending chain that goes back centuries and spans the globe. We are dedicated to keeping alive some of the oldest songs, and introducing some of the newest. In fact, each set typically includes some songs more than a century old and some less than a year old.

While harmonic patterns and rhyme styles have evolved over the decades, we are not afraid to experiment with tradition. Our goal is to make the oldest songs sound fresh, and to make the newest feel like you've always known them.
