"Lay Back and Enjoy the Seasonal tunes on Angels & Light CD"

Dec 6, 2007
As Christmas gets ever closer I want to mention another seasonal CD called Angels and Light by local pharmacist Hugh Toner and his New Brunswick cousin Jane Robichaud.
Angels and Light is a lovely collection of carefully selected material, produced by Fred Lavery and recorded at Lakewind Sound Studios. The production is light and gentle, with the music never overpowering the voices.
The music itself is very relaxed focussing on the song and the singers. The careful arrangement gives you a hint of percussion here, a brief bar or two from a violin or piano there, all combined with a pair of beautiful voices to give you a delightful recording.
The material is a nice mixture of hymns, carols, and contenporary songs. Hugh is a strong singer, nice in solo and well matched with Jane's lovely voice, their harmonies blending so well. His 13 year old daughter Lauren, someone who shows great promise as a future vocalist, also joins Hugh on one number.
For the most part the CD is very laid back. This is music for a crackling fire, a glass of wine and good company. It's been getting lots of airplay at my home and I think you'll enjoy it as well. - Dan MacDonald Cape Breton Post

This is a reunion of 2 voices after 15 years on separate paths. They started out with a Christmas debut CD from a desire to record and share Jane's song "Gentle in the Night"and the inspiring story behind it.
