"Tremors - Album Review"

Humanzi - Tremors - By Sarah Jane Ryan. 5/5.

There is something addictive about Humanzi's debut album, Tremors.
It is a forceful, heavy, agressive piece of work, and brims with unrepentant headbanger action. As ever bands are springing up all over Dublin with the usual regularity, but, this year at least, none have been quite as impressive as Humanzi to this set of ears. Their sound is a densely layered one, with guitars pulling against one another yet producing the most cohesive and melodic of sounds.
The latest single "Out on a wire", is a compelling and unexpectedly affecting track, and is still not the album's best. That position most likely goes to "Mass Hypnosis(Psychosis), a screaming rampage of pure madness. What could be better? This is only the beginning, and I for one can't wait to see what comes around next.

Quote – John Walse from Hot Press June 2006
"Humanzi Caused quite a record company feeding frenzy when they emerged blinking into the Dublin music scene last year 2006 : Slit eyed, leather-clad and possessed of some of the loudest, rawest Rock 'n' roll the country had heard in years. More melodic than Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, more anthemic than The Hives, more ballsy than Razorlight and incomparibly less irritating than tabloid Pete, Humanzi have the raw materials to make the breakthrough internationally."

Humanzi released their debut album ‘Tremors’ on Fiction/SFR July 24th 2006. It feature's the well received singles ‘Fix The Cracks’ and ‘Diet Pills and Magazine's . ‘Tremors’ was produced by Chris Vrenna [Nine Inch Nails] and good friend Garreth Mannix. It’s a dirty, gritty, honest and confrontational call to arms of 11 euphoric post-punk gems.

Over the last two years Humanzi have opened for the likes of the Foo Fighters, The Strokes, The Pixies, Eagles of Death Metal, New York Dolls and have toured with The Dirty Pretty Things, Peaches and White Rose Movement to name but a few. In 2006, Humanzi headlined the New Band Stage on the Sunday night of the Oxegen festival, made appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals, The Wireless Festival, CMJ and were invited to play in New York for Fader Magazine and more recently at the Eurosonic Festival in Holland.

TV appearances have included slots on renowned Irish music show ‘Other Voices’ and the institution that is ‘The Late Late show’ as well as T4 and MTV2s Gonzo and BBC2.

2007 will see the band decamp to Berlin to record their second album.
