Bio

Hunter's Point has been described as a blend of contemporary female artists such as Fiona Apple and Tori Amos while incorporating an Alternative Rock edge reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, and a hint of jazz harmony familiar to fans of Steely Dan. The individual members of Hunters Point possess a wide range of musical interests and influences respectively, and are continually experimenting with new sounds and styles. This allows them to truly blur the lines of standard musical genres and rewards the listener with the opportunity to experience their unique sound without having to label the music, while still maintaining a sound that has mass appeal.

Hunter's Point was formed in 2005 by Tahkus Ekedal (vocals & piano) and Peter Boskosvich (bass), both graduates of the Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena,
California. Fellow Academy alums Jackson Allen (guitar) and Mike Hughes (drums) completed the line-up in 2006. Originally driven solely by Ms. Ekedal’s' songwriting, the band has since combined the creativity and influences of all four band members, and risen to new levels of sound, experimentation, and style.

Hunters Point recorded a 5-song EP in Burbank, California in the Fall of 2006, and is currently in the studio recording their LP. The band is regularly performing live around Southern California, specifically in the most prestigious clubs in Los Angeles/Hollywood. Venues such as The Mint, The Viper Room, and The Derby, Tangiers, and The Roxy all request regular appearances by Hunters Point. In addition, they are extending their reach into the surrounding cities of the LA area and up the coast reaching to Central and Northern California.

As a special highlight, Hunters Point founding member Tahkus Ekedal has been active in the music scene since her professional recording debut at age three. Her childhood career varied from appearing on albums with Lady Smith Black Mambazo to Jimmy Witherspoon. Ms. Ekedal even earned her way to share the stage with David Crosby and Graham Nash.
