Bio

Hunter and Suzy are a husband and wife songwriting team. Hunter is originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, USA and Suzy grew up in Sydney’s beachside suburb of Maroubra. They now reside in Balmain.

Their songs cover the country spectrum from traditional to contemporary, and include honkytonk, swing, ballads, bluegrass and rock. They have been doing a series of Friday night residencies for over 10 years, performing original material. Their gigs have became a focal point for many musicians, singers and songwriters, who came down not only for an occasional chance to perform with the band, but also to check out the exciting playing and songwriting skills of this outfit. They intend to continue carrying on this tradition of quality country music in Sydney’s Inner West.

Two of Hunter and Suzy’s songs have been included on commercially released Australian recordings in the past few years: “Goin’ Strong, Goin’ Wrong” on Anne Kirkpatrick’s “Cry Like a Man” CD and “Valentine’s Day” on the ABC “Open Road II” compilation. In addition, two songs (“Dreamtrain” and “OCD”) from their debut CD have received regular nation-wide airplay on Radio National and 2BL in Sydney. They are becoming a fixture at the yearly Tamworth Country Music Festival. They made their first appearance at the Toyota National Country Music Muster at Gympie, Queensland in August 2002.

The band has released a second CD, recorded live, entitled “Honkytonk Angels”, which is getting a great response from the fans.

This band has a refreshingly original approach to country music, with great players performing strong songs.
