"KPP presents Hurricane Harmony at Ace's Top Card"

On Friday night at Aces Top Card, KPP presented Hurricane Harmony, Kickstand, Saigon Hookers and Maximum RnR
December 7, 2007

This was Hurricane Harmony’s first live show ever as a band. Each member has played in different bands before but now has come together to form Kingstons’ newest punk/Metal/Rock band. The Band is made up of three members Brady Zomer on Drums, Philip Bell on lead vocals and guitar and Ira Smith on Bass and vocals. A large portion of the crowd that came out tonight was there in support of Hurricane Harmony. After the band finished their set about half of their crowd decided to leave and miss one hell of a great night of Music. You could tell that there was a hint of nervousness in the air as the members of Hurricane Harmony was walking around Aces Top Card, by about the end of the second song you could tell that all Nervousness was gone. Brady finished out the second song with a nice little drum solo. “I wrote this song when I was F*ckin drunk” Philip Bell said to open up their third song.

The experience of playing live shows played out very well for the band because the Phillip went out into crowd and played half of the fourth song out in the crowd. I must say that I was impressed with their performance and also their own music. I really didn’t have a large expectation heading into the show but they quickly and easily changed any doubts that I may have had about the band. After this performance I imagine that we will be seeing a lot more live performances from Hurricane Harmony. - Party in Kingston

Bio

Hurricane Harmony is a blanket term; like indie, or alternative, or post-modern. It is a name which lends a singular point of reference to an eclectic collection of teenage angst, enthusiasm, exstacy, and misery.

Contrived emotions have infected rock and roll. whiny, self-indulgent/obsessed artists are castrating our art-form; and Hurricane Harmony has made it their mission to save rock and roll through shamelessness, strength of character, emotional integrity, honesty, and not taking themselves too seriously.

Brady Zomer (drums) and Ira Smith (bass) grew up together in the countryside on the outskirts of kingston. over their childhood, they played in a number of bands, gaining valuable
experience together.

In 2002 it was time to head off to high school where Brady and Ira met Phil Bell (guitar/vocals). While the three never started a band together while in school together, Ira and Phil shared Brady between their individual bands.

In the summer of 2007, Brady (having just parted ways with Bodog contender 'Silver Screen Quotations') approached Phil about starting a band with the intention of "playing a few covers, making a few bucks, and maybe getting laid". Phil was quick to enlist, and before 2 months was over no covers had been learned, but an entire album's worth of material had been written.

Hurricane Harmony is the duality of nature. The beauty and the destructiveness.

we like to think destruction is beautiful...

Their influences include: Queens Of The Stone Age, smashing pumpkins, dinosaur jr., Foo Fighters, Nirvana, KISS, Pavement, Blink 182, The Flaming lips, the pixies, the trews, big wreck, Stone Temple Pilots, Death From Above, Black Sabbath, Black Crowes
