Bio

Front man, singer/songwriter Phil Richards ("Mother") began singing in a backwoods southern Baptist church. Son of a touring jazz singer, his days were filled with music and he quickly began performing (age 4) in musical theater, television and state choral events. He wrote his first song at age 5, by mistake actually; being unable to understand the words to his favorite song. he wrote his own.

Richards has appeared on Star Search and the pilot for HBO's series Reverb. He has performed with the likes of Living Color, Fishbone, King's X, Foreigner, Tonic, and members of Parliament/Funkadelic. He has collaborated with musicians in New York, Austin, Nashville, L.A. and San Francisco

Guitarist Chris Volpe's approach to music was far more cerebral than the nature/nurture infusion of Richards or the smash mouth trial by fire of Gallo.

Volpe is a true student of this art form, beginning his formal studies of all styles of music in grade school. As a teenager Chris attended a private music high school, researching the great masters from Beethoven to Beatles, Handel to Hendrix, Mendelson to the Maha Vishnu Orchestra.

His avarice for learning became a clarion call to teaching and Volpe enrolled in the State University of New York for music on the path to becoming a professor. It was there that Volpe met a young, headstrong Billy Gallo. The two began composing together and soon the band Size Deep was born. Chris embraced live performance with the same zeal and intensity that he had his musical studies, rising to the top levels of New York music scene. He is impassioned and captivating as he lights up the stage.

Bassist Billy Gallo ("Bones") may be the youngest member of the band (22), but he is possibly the most seasoned as well. This self taught powerhouse has been writing music and playing stages professionally since he was 11 years old.

His strong influences of Jack Bruce, Geezer Butler and John Paul Jones have earned him invitation to play with rock legends Zebra ("Who's Behind The Door") and tenure with the all-star line up of Hindenberg, whose members consist of musicians from Zebra, Rat Race Choir, Toxic and the Ace Frehley Band. Billy's previous project, Size Deep, was voted as New York's most dangerous band, fueled by Gallo's bone crushing bass and, then and now band member, Chris Volpe's electrifying licks.

Drummer/Percussionist Jon Campbell ("Camby, Camby Brown, Wamby") cannot think of a time when he wasn't playing the drums!

From his first junior set (at age 7) to drum core throughout school and in state competition (aka "Drumline"), playing jazz in New York City, reggae in Caribbean Islands, or Salsa in Costa Rica.

He is a journeyman and a pupil of rhythm, blending knowledge of a myriad of styles and cultures into a thunderous solid foundation that propels the band. He has toured with New York's acclaimed Government Issue, the nationally regarded Rainbow Trout and eclectic Pocket Spiders to name a few; as well as established himself as one of the premier drummers of the metro area's pro-jam circuit.
