Bio

The musicians crossed paths during Green Drinks, a sustainable business network meeting, where the idea of bringing live Bossa compositions such as from the great Antonio Carlos Jobim, visiting some traditional Samba and Jazz Standards, also smoothly straddling a gap between a Jam Band genre in live performances, quickly evolved into Hypnosmoothie, Long Island's premier band to deliver this special blend of groove-oriented Brazilian rhythms.

Combining Pauline's unique vocal quality influenced by great singers like the legendary Elis Regina, Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte and Diana Krall combining life experiences when weaving in stories from her native land, featuring lyrics in both english and portuguese and remarkable jazz improvisers from Fusion Collective - Mike Ernst and Edgar Mills, the band has been warmly embraced by the local scene.

After leaving North Texas State University Mike Ernst came back to NY to pursue a career in music. While working weddings, club dates, local studio and pit work, he had the opportunity to work for Bo Diddley, Latoya Jackson, and was the opening act for James Brown with the soul group “Premonition”. Performed many years in New York City with his fusion band “Continuum” and has also opened for jazz legend Don Grusin at Five Towns College. Nowadays an independent music professional performing, teaching privately and producing/engineering in his Huntington based studio with bills like Sponge Bob marketing products.

Currently exploring brazilian music with Hypnosmoothie while playing New York jazz gigs, studio bass player and producer, Edgar Mills graced Marcy Playgrounds platinum album 'I Love Sex and Candy' with his bass tracks. Composer for Discovery Channel's 'Missing People'. Muti-media producer with original world music CD 'Buddha On Mars' which has been seen on PBS.

Today also a mother and activist, it was her Blues band in Sao Paulo winning songwriting contests that inspired the beginning of an odyssey to the US back when she was 21. After working as a DJ and announcer in 3 radio stations and mastering technician for Copacabana Records, Pauline arrived in New York to learn english as she exceeded academically at the Institute of Audio Research in the Greenwich Village. Involved in projects like Stateside with guitarist Kevin DeBoves throughout this journey, it is undoubtedly Hypnosmoothie the band to fully explore her potentials, precisely matching the expectations for this time in her life.

Environmental awereness is also a priority, where the band donates a percentage of its profits to causes that support global conservation.
