If growing up in rural Pennsylvania taught songwriter Evan Saunders one thing about music, it was this: everything sounds better in the back of a speeding car, with your friends by your side and the streetlight blurring like stars through the window. In those first eighteen years, he spent hours driving around aimlessly, absorbing the sounds of artists like The Smiths, Death Cab for Cutie, and Taylor Swift.
All of that changed when he moved to New York, and it became harder to access those feelings that only occur above 60 miles per hour. So he set out to make them for himself. The result is i miss driving: jittery pop jams that convey the anxiety of a life in the city alongside dreamy ballads that long for the open road at night.
Currently, the band is playing shows in the greater NYC area and recording their debut album. You can listen to their latest single on bandcamp.
