Iain James & The Sound arrived at the music scene with their guitar driven alternative rock in 2012. With well crafted songs, great musicianship and fantastic harmonies it’s no wonder that their fan base is growing at a rapid pace,

In April 2012 the band played their first gig which was their cd launch at a sold out Classic Grand in Glasgow.
They nailed a support with Red Sky July featuring Ally McErlaine better known as the guitarist from Texas at King Tuts in Glasgow. The band have had national airplay with tracks from their debut cd played numerous times on BBC Radio Scotland as well as several features in local press.

Iain’s love of melodic guitar based supergroups motivated him to form one of his own, but with a modern twist. He has been an accomplished fingerstyle and session guitarist since the 90’s and has played festivals and shows throughout the UK as well as opening for other artists such as Brian Kennedy, Eddi Reader, John Renbourn, The James Brown Band and Ricki Lee Jones. Iain started writing and singing his own songs in the past few years which led to this new musical direction of fronting his own group.

Bob Gilmour has been playing drums from an early age and his influences range from John Bonham to Jeff Porcaro. A self-confessed perfectionist, he’s played numerous live shows including Glastonbury and has recorded for various bands.

Kenny Maclean has played bass guitar in many bands over the years. He has appeared at festivals all over the UK as well as playing many venues and clubs. Highlights for Kenny amongst festival appearances were playing at the Solfest and Belladrum festivals.

Kenny Dow is the newest addition to the band providing rhythm guitar. He’s played in several bands and has recorded with various local artists.

Debs Sobieraj worked at Cava Studios in Glasgow and has recorded vocals for the likes of Arab Strap, The High Fidelity and Craig Armstrong to name a few.

Babs Matheson has worked for various music promoters within Scotland, and has been surrounded by musicians most of her adult life. She’s helped promote shows for the likes of Oasis, Robbie Williams and The Verve. She’s also recorded and played live for several Glasgow bands during the past 10 years.
