Tell me about IceDude?
A Hip Hop Artist from North Minneapolis, MN that adores and accepts his role and presence in the
underground market as a Minnesota underground pioneer. I have been a household name in Minnesota and the Midwest for 10 yrs. IceDude has sold 55,000 mixtapes out of his trunk and is still grinding like he never sold one. IceDude is an artist with a lot of passion and a different type of flow...raw yet hood, you can hear pain and it'll make you bounce in the club! Never drug or murder music, EVERYTHING is IceDude's LIFE. He's been touching shoulders with industry artist for 8 years and never once asked for anything or has he ever gotten star struck. IceDude knows he's the real answer to the void of real spirit touching hip hop.
When did you first become interested in the pursuit of music?
I wrote my 1st rap at age 8and I've been making mixtapes and touring since 2002.
If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?
REALITY. I refuse to make pointless music. I work hard to make music you can listen to decades from now. I don't have major money, being underground.
Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?
Some of my biggest influences were Scarface, LLoyd Banks, Beanie Sigel, Pastor Troy, and The TARRY TOWN RANGERS.
Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?
I signed myself to my own label CNC RECORDS in 2008. This is where I will remain until a label signs my whole company.
How would you classify your sound and/or style?
I call it Raw Reality. It's a raw sound, yet complete reality.
On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?
Not the industry, it's WWE, all made up characters with loud mouths, I love the underground though, it's where I dwell.
As for the immediate future, what's next?
My new Mixtape, “iGRIND” will be released very soon. That's all I am focused on. It's a testimony of my life, I am revealing my deepest secrets and most vulnerable moments. It's legit pain music. I don't care how anybody feels about it, just my story.
Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…
Well I have a few. First is when I met with Universal Records about my movement, I was told that Diddy was caught on his cell phone getting head from a white man. NEXT: Is how Lil Wayne kissed dude and nobody said shit about it, I peeped how he put out a false report about him having a seizure to cover it up. Aw man! That's just a few WTDTA moments.
