Bio

The band (or its concept rather) was begun when Jon Marc and Drew met in college during the 05-06 school year and began to play music together. Soon they discovered their musical stylings meshed well and they began to write songs. Since that time, the band has enjoyed the company of 8 different members. Through many lineup changes, a few name changes, and much adversity, I Am Ruined (see Isaiah 6) has slowly but surely become what it is today.

Jay Jay (drummer) joined the band in late 2006 after the original drummer left the band and has been a solid fixture since. Many bass players have come and gone, but Chad agreed to join the band in late 2008 to become the newest member of the band. Even now, I Am Ruined is in search of a couple more pieces to complete its sound.

IAR's influences range from great worship leaders and writers such as david crowder, kristian stanfill, hillsong united, chris tomlin, and shane & shanes to rock acts such as chevelle, blindside, breaking benjamin, creed, 12 stones and many others. Many genres have shaped the guys' sound, including rock, metal, jazz, worship, etc.

Despite the influences, I Am Ruined has blended their musical backgrounds into one sound that is rather unique. The lyrics are worshipful, personal, and challenging. The music has an effective blend of quiet and loud moments, distortion and clean tones, catchy riffs and smooth breakdowns, driving rhythms and crafty drumming. The melodies are diverse and an occasional rap isn't out of the question.

Above all, I Am Ruined desires to write and perform music that brings glory to God, offers hope to the lost and broken, encourages and challenges believers, and provides entertainment and joy to music lovers everywhere. We hope that listeners of all backgrounds and particular tastes can listen to and enjoy our sound, but most of all we hope they understand and receive our message.

We hope you enjoy our songs. Glory to God.
