Bio

Ian Egan's music is Adult Alternative Folk Rock. From the raw adult emotions and soaring harmonies in "Lovin' Care" to the tale of heroes and courage in "Hero's Wall," Ian's poignant and poetic lyrics are brought to vibrant life by the perfect harmonies and immense musical talent of this multi-instumentalist.

Ian has been a published poet for many years, and came to the guitar relatively late... and the poetry flowing through his head suddenly had an amazing outlet on stage in front of the microphone. Ian lives in Austin, Texas, and makes full use of the many wonderful and varied open mics throughout the vibrant music scene in the Live Music Capitol of the World.

Ian is a great admirer of the poets & storytellers of popular music. He is influenced by the social commentary & lyricism of Paul Simon, Jim Croce, Micheal Franti, Ben Harper, Ray Lamontagne, and Bob Dylan among others. (He has claimed on occasion that he is always trying to write the next "Sounds Of Silence.")

In addition to songwriting, Ian is a professional free-lance cartoonist & a published poet & author. His unique perspective on life, from the humorous to the sublime, lend his lyrics a fresh & unusual view of the Universe around us. From the patriotic anthem "Hero's Wall" (Ian spent four years in the Marines) through the fanciful "Mr. Books" (about temptation & the Devil) to the beseeching emotion of "Lovin' Care" & the gentle love song "Tangled," Ian will make you listen & tap your toe... either with a smile on your face or a lump in your throat, and many times both.
