At an early age I played music. Piano at 7, guitar self taught at 10. Bass, harmonicas, dulcimer, bodhran. And singing. From the age of six on. Classical, jazz, popular. Then playing in bands – mostly acoustic but some rock as well. Acting for eight years – a year in New York and then and undergraduate degree. Blah blah blah.

And there’s more – cocaine, pills, pot then rehab and recovery blah blah blah.

So a more mature man wakes up one day with a Masters in Counseling, an MBA, a Vice Presidency running a not-for-profit and thinks about the needs of expression. It started with some story writing but the call to play returned. Playing with open tuning seemed right for both the sounds and the ease on hands that were weak and out of practice. Open sounds of longing and loss seemed to mark the time and age. And with the call came the words and the formation of songs like of a time so long ago. These songs feel older, more mature, richer with deeper meaning.

That’s what’s here. I have no idea what it means. I have no idea what it’s for. I know it’s good for me. I write them, record them, listen to them and believe in them.
