Bio

Equally inspired by songwriters, early pop and soul, pre-country Appalachian, gospel and tin-pan alley writers - Ian Moore stands on the foundations that cull his spirit and creates music that sweep the soul away. Influences such as Towns Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, Marvin Gaye, Zombies, Beatles, Porter and Gershwin all take comfort in this house. Neutral Milk Hotel, Spiritualized and Palace count among the contemporary influences that challenge Moore.

Ian has played with an evolutionary style that progressively futures itself on the unknown. You can't corner Moore anywhere, because the room he plays in - has no corners. Either you enjoy being challenged or you like living in boxes. There's not much room for borders here.

With a new live DVD, Live at the Cactus, Moore is currently mixing an in-studio companion CD entitled Luminaria. The unconventional hi-fi recording is taking place in home studios on computers across the US while Moore keeps up his hectic tour schedule. "This is the first CD I have produced myself. The process of recording in my home studio on Vashon Island, WA and on the road has added a lot of depth and layers to the songs," explains Moore. "The DVD has been something my fans wanted for a longtime. I decided to record a studio CD of the same material. While the content and the songs speak for themselves -we believe it's the first pop record that's ever been made on the road. It's like recording a record in various locations that could never happen 10 years ago."
