Bio

IAN MUNN SOLO ARTIST IS RECORDING "LATE NIGHT SESSIONS" IN 2009. WITH A STYLE THAT IS A MIXTURE OF ALTERNATIVE, POP, ELECTRONICA AND INDUSTRIAL, HIS BLEND OF CATCHY HOOKS AND GUITAR RIFFING HAS EARNED HIM A SMALL AND LOYAL FOLLOWING WHICH IS SURE TO EXPAND AS THE NEW SONGS FIND THEIR WAY TO PLAYLISTS AND RADIO. ALL IAN'S LATEST SONGS ARE AVAILABLE FOR FREE DOWNLOAD BEFORE BEING PROFESSIONALLY REMASTERED AND COMMERCIALLY RELEASED IN DECEMBER 2009.
"I used to love the Sydney scene, but part of me felt a bit alienated by it" he stated when asked about his past musical endeavours. "I got stuck playing in bands that didn't reflect where I was musically. I was always playing in one particular style at home and another at gigs and in the studios. I guess now the music I am creating is a culmination of all those times I played to people in lounge rooms, at BBQ's, after nights out, alone at home. They would often tell me to go out on my own, and that my voice was more suited to the mellow stuff."
It is true that Ian Munn has a lot of musical credentials. A regular on the Sydney music scene for many years, Ian's best known as the original guitarist in Beware of the Dog- a band that still has a strong underground following. "I loved those times and I really miss them," he insists."But now I have moved on to bigger and better things for me personally. Now I have complete musical freedom and can play the music I always wanted to."
So what should you expect from this musician given his penchant for guitar riffs and his past band excursions?
"I prefer The Black Eyed Peas to Pantera ," he laughs quite amused. "However I am feeling like I did when I watched all those bands years ago. The difference is I have grown up a lot. I have the opportunity with my home studio to play when I please and in whatever style I please. I don't have to deal with anything that takes the joy out of music, and making music for me."
"I have learned with my current recording that i can't write to a formula. I am still learning as an engineer and the true music within is back. There is a style and a sound that every individual has, and mine hopefully will finally be realised in these new songs. I feel I have a point to prove and some unfinished business. Music for me is not about anything but emotion and expression. Whatever happens, I just want people to enjoy what I am doing, and appreciate the time i am spending making quality music," he ponders with an enthusiastic tone.
Ian Munn Solo Artist is not playing any live shows but has a film clip and series of podcasts planned for upcoming months. His latest song "Newspaper" has just been released and is available on his official site at www.ianmunnsoloartist.com
