"Entertainment Review: Comedian Ian Salmon"

Last night, I had the pleasure of supporting local Comedian Ian Salmon in College Park Maryland. I have to tell you that I was “Totally Impressed” with his performance. Now before I provide a review for his performance, I must talk about the other comedians that were present…
About 6 or 7 comedians took that stage prior to Ian [there were so many that we lost count and only remembered them by their bit]. Kind of like when you watch a “Title Fight” on HBO or Showtime. They have several other matches then you get to see the match that you have “really” been waiting to see. As each comedian came to the stage, they “of course” had their own unique style and genre of Comedy. One of my friends [also and ODU Alum] attended the Comedy Show with me. We found ourself rating each comedian on a scale of 1 – 10 as they left the stage. We rated them based on their stage presence, material, interaction with the audience, and audience response. Well at least that is what I was rating them on . The lowest score that was given was a 3 and the highest was a 9.5.

Of the 6 – 7 comedians who came to the stage, the ones who really stood out to me were:

~ There was a performer who reminded me of Dave Chappelle.
~ The Beautician, she was “crazy” interjecting all sorts of sexual material while quoting the bible lol. She “got” a high score.
~ Then there was the mixed young lady. Her warm up was kinda slow but once the ball got rolling she was “Fabulous”. When she told her ending story, we were rolling on the floor. “Yes” she received a high final score.

Now to review the Headliner, comedian Ian Salmon”. I must be honest, my buddy and I were kinda ready to go midway through the evening. We had a plan to hit the door and depart as soon as Ian came to the stage. Each time the host was behind the mic we prayed that he was going to introduce “Ian”, but he didn’t. Can I tell you that, it was “so worth the wait”. He is definitely a very “Talented and gifted “International” comedian. His piece was totally AWESOME! He was fluid, had great transitions, kept the audience’s attention, kept the audience engaged, had few if any low points, and just demonstrated that he a talented and well seasoned performer. It is well worth your money to check him out.

His rating for the evening was a “9.5?. You need to support him. Get your but off of your couch and start to attend events when he is the headliner. I PROMISE THAT YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED. Don’t sleep on this guy. Once he reaches “household-name” status, there will be standing room only. - Avonne Curry Show
