Biography

Iberi are 12 professional Georgian folk singers, friends, and enthusiastic missionaries of the unique Georgian polyphonic singing, which has been recognized by UNESCO as being a masterpiece of oral immaterial heritage.

The name of the choir came form the ancient name of Georgia Iberia. 

IBERI was created in 2012. In spite of the short time, Iberi made an impressive start, taking part in the Tallinn Music Week the biggest showcase music event in Baltic states (March 2013). In May 2013 Iberi performed at the first edition of Tbilisi Music Week and in Autumn 2013- opened International Film Festival in Sankt Petersburg, and gave numerous concerts in Baltic countries in 2013 and 2014.


The choir repertoire is very wide: it includes songs from all regions of Georgia, which differ musically, rhythmically and culturally, the ancient Georgian songs, including very rare songs from pagan era, as well as sacred songs.
