"Iberia (My Turn)"

Attention all my brothers and sisters from the planet SOUL, this next sister sings only for those who specialize in getting their groove on and those familiar with the Black Hand side. Creating soulful sounds with the intention of keeping it funky all-year, YHM would like to introduce all to Iberia. Born Brandi Austin in Milwaukee, Iberia adopeted the meaningful musical expression of what we would like to call Neo-soul and mixed it with hip hop and jazz, a sound she calls "Iberian Funk." Iberia's music shoul not be compared to those we call "round the way girs", but she represents an elaborate , intellectual, rooted-in-soul-type sister. A vocalist at heart she is also soulfully skilled in electric and acoustic bass. Both talents combined create a dynamic evening of deep exploration into the cosmos of Iberian Funk. As Iberia confidently sings onstage, she expresses her love, her pain, and her overall true emotions through her songs. With her soulfully refreshing single titled "Black Girl, " Iberia pushes forth a movement of creativity as her music breaks through the barriers of shallowness and expresses the depth of a sister consumed with the spirit of funk. So play on my sister Iberia and make funky all the time, ya' dig! - Matthew Johnson, Ya Heard Magazine

Iberia was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. With a father who played bass, congas, and sang and a mother who was a dancer and poet, Iberia was destined to be an artist. Today her years of musical sowing has reaped a harvest of songwriting, bass playing, singing, poetry, and even acting. Iberia has gained local success in her home town, playing in various clubs and venues around the city with her 7 piece band. All that have an opportunity to taste the Iberian experience always leave hungry for more. She is anxious to share her gift with all who have a desire to listen. Her style ranges from Soul to Spiritual to R&B to jazz to Rock. Whatever and where ever she performs, her motto is to “make it funky one time….”
