"On Sunday, I caught a few songs by Icarus, AKA Kyle Taylor, formerly the frontman of Release. I think before the word "emo" came into the vernacular, you would have just called Taylor's music tender. He plays jangly, acoustic indie-folk, just a little bit morose and a lot touchy-feely. But he has a beautiful voice, and specifically he has excellent command of his vocal range. No nasally post-punk inflection here — fella's got actual pipes."

"These Wings" released Nov. 2006
"Sonnets" released June 2008

After 8 years fronting the Alt/rock band "release." Kyle Taylor broke off on his own and went back to basics. "Icarus" was born while Kyle was working and living on a cruise ship in 2006, recording an album of honest and introspective music in his extremely small ship cabin. Finally properly writing music that reflected his true feelings about bad choices, father son relationships and disastrous love, he could think to call the project only one thing. Feeling much like the cocky child who thought he knew too much, and learned a hard lesson, "Icarus" began. Today Kyle has released two albums under the name and continues to write and perform the music he has been waiting to share for years.
