Bio

Justin Matthew Gilland was born August 29th 1989 in Tupelo, Mississippi, he is better known by his stage name IcyWyte. His style of music is a mixture of Crunk dance, Rap and R & B. He started out in the year 2003 writing and producing his own music, by 2007 he decided to create a buzz around his local scene so in late summer he did his first show called “Back To School Bash”, for all the local teenagers in his town, it was a success and this is where his love for performing on stage began! His love for performing took him next to a club near Memphis, Tennessee where he took place in a contest called “Mix Tape Wednesday”, IcyWyte caught the attention of a DJ who noticed the crowd reaction the night of his performance and allowed his single “Jump If You Crunk” to be placed in rotation on the radio for 30 days. Late 2007 he did a few major artist opening acts and among the few were Yo Gotti, Pleasure P and Slim Thug. He has performed in clubs located in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina & Florida. A new year arrives, 2008, and starting off the year with a blast, IcyWyte does an opening show for Lil Boosie in Selma, Alabama and had an amazing effect on the crowd. His song “Oh My Goodness” which is his new single was chosen to be placed in rotation on the “Dirty South Flava Show” on FM 92.5 Jamz, it has been featured as one of the top local artist songs on this radio show. One of his recent showcases was the “Delta Music Showcase” in Greenville, Mississippi. The panel of judges included Ankh Ra from MTV’s Making the Band and Miami Mike, Soulja Boys manager. IcyWyte took 1st place out of 17 artists that competed. Ankh Ra’s words of advice to IcyWyte “as an artist you have the whole package, but you need to expand to a major marketing area if you want to be noticed by the music industry”. With these words of advice, he continues building his fan base and regional buzz while performing in clubs, showcases, festivals and private parties, the IcyWyte movement has begun!
