Bio

Although new to the music industry, Ieesha On'trel is in no way new to music. Originally hailing from Detroit, Michigan, she began singing along with Dionne Warwick recordings at the age of 4 and performing for friends and family members. Singing then became more of a hobby for her while growing up in Lansing, Michigan. She began playing around with her writing talents around the age of 10, writing fiction stories and poems. It wasn't until the age of 12 that she would pick up her first pair of drumsticks in middle school concert band. Through formal training in both middle school and high school, and her participation in Lansing Everett High School Marching Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Pep Band, her drumming talents began to excel as she impressed many of her peers and instructors.

During high school, she would also join her school and church choirs to develop her singing talents. While in college at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, her writing skills went to a whole different level, majoring in English and using what she learned about prose to begin penning her own poetry. It wouldn't be until about 7 years later that all three talents would culminate to form what is now emerging...

Ieesha On'trel has been compared to drummers Sheila E and Terri Lynne Carrington. Vocally, she has been compared to India Arie, Toni Braxton, and Mechelle N’decello. Her songwriting possesses a style that is as fresh, uplifting, rejuvanating, and creative, as it is entertaining.

Ieesha is currently working on her first solo project. It will fuse the genres of R&B, Neo Soul, and Hip Hop while crossing over to the worlds of Reggae and House/Techno. The project itself promises to be just as diverse as her musical tastes. When asked to reflect on her upcoming project, Ieesha says, "It is a culmination of all of my different moods. Therefore, my music will span several different styles as each song reflects a different mood. It's rich."

Ieesha was recently selected to perform at the 5th Annual International Soul Music Summit Artist Showcase in Atlanta. Her showcase venue was the Atlanta Underground. It was an exciting experience which will be followed by many more. She's also been selected to perform for Live from Groovebox Studios--a unique opportunity for Detroit area artists to make a live recording of their performance and be featured in an online blog. Ieesha's music is also currently spinning on many internet radio stations, including WomensRadio 365 and Atlanta Movement Radio. You can also find Ieesha gracing the pages of G3 Magazine--Volume 3, Issue 3.
