Still working on that hot first release.

In 2008, Doug Mann, Greg Varlotta and Rachael Gold got together with the goal of creating original music and performance art utilizing the latest in music entertainment technology. "The first time we played, it was obvious we had something magical", Doug says. "We decided right then and there it was worth committing to". if_then was formed, and rehearsals began. "The flow of ideas was as effortless as turning on a faucet", adds Rachael. "Within a month the band had over 20 songs." The band describes the music as an electronic/acoustic hybrid of their collective musical experience. The 3 agree, "Our music is definitely Electronica, but has elements of Dance, Jazz, R&B and World. You'll just have to listen and make your own decision on genre."

They knew going in that their show would have a strong visual component. The band uses LED lighting and computers to connect the lights with the music. "Technology enables our show to constantly evolve, and that's exciting," Rachael says.

And their music is the perfect vehicle for Greg to incorporate his brand of tap dance, which he calls 'foot percussion'. "It's dancing, but my emphasis is on feel and groove," Greg clarifies. "And with the addition of electronics to my taps, it becomes something else entirely. The possibilities are endless." And Doug chimes in, "When Greg tap danced with Nils Lofgren on his UK tour in '06, he brought the house down. But wait 'til the people see this!"
