Bio

Singer, composer and guitarist IggyC was born and raised in the bustling metropolis of Bogot, Colombia. His music, cultivated over many years and fully composed, produced and recorded by the artist himself, is a diverse mix of styles and traditions that reflect his own story and identity: a thoroughly pop and rock base with Latin, jazz and blues influences. A natural singer at an early age, IggyC never adopted Colombian culture and its traditional music, and was instead drawn to classic American pop and rock from the 1980s and 90s. He immersed himself in the music of Michael Jackson, and later in hard rock such as Guns N Roses, and Megadeth, perfecting his virtuoso guitar playing technique listening to the great electric guitarists such as Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix. After performing with many bands in venues all around Bogot, he realized more and more that Colombian audiences were only interested in strictly Latin-sounding music and that his true passion lay in classic rock & roll and pop. He yearned to create music that reached a broader audience and reflected his own Latin roots and desire for sonic innovation.

As a young adult, IggyC decided to pursue his lifelong dream of playing rock & roll in the US, where his eclectic musical style would be truly appreciated. He taught himself English and developed his unique, ethereal singing voice listening to artists like Prince, Al green, and Marvin Gaye. He recorded his first album in Colombia, Providence, (not released yet) a collection of love ballads with soul rock and pop elements, and moved to the US with the passion and vision to present genre-defying pop music to the world.

Now in the US, IggyC continues to explore different musical genres and experiment with incorporating jazz harmonies and chords, African beats and blues rhythms into his songs, while solidifying his artistic combination of vocal lyricism, instrumental acuity and musical versatility. A recent feature in Bold Magazine declared, He communicates a more authentic bittersweet melody with his love songs than Enrique could ever do and he can ride the pop wave because of it. Carson uses a yo-yo method stylistically, swinging from the innocuous instrumentals of pop to a rock and jazz-tinged soul to the fiery balladry of Latin music. His music continues to be a mix of traditions and sounds, reflecting his own varied roots and influences, and hopefully reaching the hearts of listeners with complex and nuanced identities.
