Ignescent

Female fronted and from Chicago, Illinois, Ignescent is a rock band founded by singer/songwriter Jennifer Benson. Since 2008, the band has been primarily touring throughout the Midwest and Nashville area. Ignescent’s new CD, Electrified, was produced by 4 time Dove Award winning & Grammy Nominated producer Travis Wyrick (10 Years, P.O.D.) and recorded at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville, Tennessee. The first song on the CD, “Calling Out to You”, was co-written with former lead guitarist of Skillet, Ben Kasica. Ignescent combines their musical backgrounds to form a harmony that is both addictive and inspiring. Ignescent is more than just a rock band, they are real people with a combination of great stories. These stories, combined with moving guitars riffs and a driving beat create a sound people enjoy and relate to.

popVLTR: You've been making moves in Chicago, how'd you get into music? Ignescent: I actually started taking voice lessons as a teenager because my friend was taking lessons and thought it would be cool. I fell in love with singing and starting writing songs from there and singing in church. Music was a place I felt like I fit in and a great outlet in hard times.

popVLTR: Congrats on the success of 'Electrified', who are some of your influences? Ignescent: Our main influence is Flyleaf. I love their style and so impressed by Lacey Sturm's heart, their meaningful lyrics, and their high energy performance on stage. Others influences are Evanescence, Paramore, Pink, and The Letter Black.

popVLTR: What are some of your proudest moments in music? Ignescent: Some of our proudest moments in music was being able to co-write the song "Calling Out to You" with former leader guitarist of Skillet, Ben Kasica. I love Skillet and have so much respect for them. I never thought I would get the chance to actually co-write a song with Ben so that was such an amazing experience. Also, being able to record with Grammy nominated producer, Travis Wyrick, who has worked with bands like 10 Years and P.O.D. was a great honor. We worked with Jason Hinkle of Curious Three Film Productions who directed Company of Thieves music video that played on MTV to shoot the music video for "Calling Out to You". It was voted for an Indie Music Channel award for best Rock Video in 2013!

popVLTR: What cool stuff is on the horizon for Ignescent? Ignescent: We are planning to record a new EP this summer and in the process of booking a tour in the late summer or fall with The Fabulous Miss Wendy and playing at the McCormick Place in Chicago in July. - PopVulture Entertainment Network
