Ignorant mob

Over the past five years Ignorant Mob has crafted it's original sound by merging brooding trombone and searing electric violin with jazz influenced melodies, conscious lyrics and impenetrable grooves to create a dubwise mixture of heavy roots reggae, old school ska and contemporary world rhythms.

In late 2001 brothers Lake and Bryn Jungwirth
{bass & drums} along with childhood friend and fellow musician Ian Zender{electric violin}, formed Ignorant Mob after growing up playing together as a trio for many years. Shortly after naming the group and joining forces with veteran musician Bob Mahin{trombone/percussion} the mob played several shows as a quartet in and around Marquette, MI. They soon acquired Tom Laverty{keyboards}, formerly of Paulding Light and Andrew Kail{guitar}, a local musician/art student and quickly began to develop their own strain of sub arctic reggae.
The unique sounds of the trombone and violin create a blazing front line powered by heavy skanking and the Jungwirth brothers' pressurized reggae pocket.
Ignorant Mob's many influences range from early ska and rocksteady{Skatalites, The Specials}to dub and roots{Augustus Pablo, Black Uhuru}to contemporary
reggae-world beat visionaries{Manu Chao, John Browns Body,Alpha Blondy, Fela Kuti}.
In spring 2004 after three years of gigging around Michigan and Wisconsin the Mob went into Spinout studios in Houghton Michigan. With producer Bernie Larsen, they recorded their first album, a twelve track original mix of instrumental reggae, ska and funk cuts.
In the fall of 2005 while preparing to record it's second album, the band underwent some changes with Laverty and Kail leaving the group. Not to be deterred by this sudden setback, the remaining Mob continued ahead, recruiting
Liberian keyboardist/bassist Horatio Williams, formerly of the N.C. based reggae band Jamrock who after almost a year left the group due to immigration issues.
In the summer of '06 the mob acquired long time friends and fellow U.P. residents Mike Kantola on lead guitar an Peter Gummerson on keyboards.
Ignorant Mob continues to perform at a variety of venues for audiences young and old, gaining recognition throughout Michigan and Wisconsin.

Ignorant Mob released thair first self titled album
on Spinout records early 2004.
