"Outside - Puma Punk"

Translation:
Best free download we've had in a long time. Excellent indie / dance pop. - NM

"American newcomers Outside - greetings from Manchester 1989"

Translation:
An excellent release from an unknown artist, Outside, played out on my system this weekend. Accordingly, I recommend that you pay attention. The guys from New York posted a very nice album called Puma Punk on their Bandcamp page (here you can download for free or just listen). Positive euphoric dance mix of "acid" (very small), Manchester indie-pop breakthrough 80-90 (yes, even though Stone Roses and The Charlatans vanish, only slightly softened, and more, that is, electronic), with a typical baggy-beat and contemporary chill-wave, in the past year who gained muscle (in the sense of rhythm), and mutated into a nostalgic synth Glow-fi pop in the manner of Washed Out and Neon Indian. It is interesting and enjoyable. - EGO Magazine

"Outside - Puma Punk"

Translation:
Outside presents Puma Punk, one of the most enjoyable releases to date, sophisticated indie pop, dance, soft forms and unexpected tropical paradise, an erotic portrait inked by nostalgia. Rich sound work by beats that hint at the creative elegance sparked by a feverish dream and pulsating synthesizers, as diverse as attractive, they melt. This gem is available at [bandcamp], to stream and download. - Felinno

"Outside - Solarize"

Like a Chillwave Cut Copy (before they got terrible). Wait for the chorus. - Neo // Noir

"Outside"

New York-via-Austin transplant Outside makes electro-tropicalia. It’s catchy stuff with the beats n’ all. Foot-tappin’ stuffs. - Gold Soundz

"Outside - Puma Punk"

Translation:
Listening to Outside this morning, I learned of a new musical style - electro-tropicalia. I like it. The whole album, which in a tangible format will come out only at some time in March, can be downloaded for free in the bandcamp website. - Earlab

"bands to watch out for in 2012: outside"

location: austin/x... now nyc

tags: electronic, psychedelic, dancefloor

formerly a member of a not to name "garage band" that gvsb always posted about, xtian aka outside quit in order to explore other influences and ideas.... and this is the result. to me... a result on a very very high level! outside will be releasing a full length album later this year (spring). definitely worth keeping an eye on outside.... if not two! - Eden Is Neon

"Outside: “Icaro”"

Already having supported the likes of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Grimes, Outside aka Christian from NYC has an interesting sound, indeed with similarity to the last-mentioned acts, however heavily inspired by Scandinavian (ehrm, Swedish) pop. CEO might be a keyword here, or even Jonathan Johansson, but Outside is definitely leaning more in the direction of psychedelia; infusing his lush pop melodies with strange synth riffs and beats that will remind you of coconuts and Hawaiian horizons. - No Fear Of Pop

"Introducing - Outside"

Introducing: Outside

The album artwork (not above, below) for Outside’s debut release Puma Punk hardly inspires confidence, yet is a true testament to the worn out cliche of never judging a book by it’s cover, or in this case, a record. A shame really, as when you hear Outside’s first eight tracks and realize that he’s making some of the best indie-pop around, and is deserving of artwork that’s on a similar creative level. Take the seven minute epic Solarize, a tune so insanely danceable yet managing to remain intriguing on an emotional level, combining the elegance of Washed Out with the ear for a hook possessed by the likes of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool.

It’s refreshing to learn that I’m not the only one who has picked up on the genius of Outside, with him (them?) set to open for Unknown Mortal Orchestra at Mohawk on Sunday. You can guarantee that whilst this might be the first you hear of Outside, it certainly won’t be the last.

There’s splashes of 80's inspiration throughout Puma Punk, no more so than on the delightfully erotic Honey Thief, that might just be the sort of music Bowie would be producing, had he had the leisure of modern equipment. It’s fairly unrelenting as a listen, yet is all the more stimulating for it. Despite having played the full release through several times, I still feel there’s greater depth to Puma Punk than it initially divulges, and it’ll probably be several more listens before I fully understand the depth of the record. Anyway, check out a couple of choice cuts below or grab the whole thing via his bandcamp, and keep up to date with Outside via facebook and twitter. - Crack In The Road

I feel slightly douchey throwing together a bunch of quotes like that... o well.
