"Quirks and Kicks – The Iiris Experience"

"The stage presence that oozes both extreme cuteness and commanding authority… This woman is no imitation, she’s the real deal."

Iiris took to the YleX stage with confidence rarely possessed by artists her age, donning attire mixing Catholic school uniform, the girl from The Ring, and platform shoes. From the first notes of Curaga, the first song of both the set and her brand new debut album The Magic Gift Box, to the final notes of Weirdo, delivered a second time as an encore to close the show, the artist moved with a sense of purpose and direction and displayed a knack for both the idiosyncratic and the dramatic.

I would like to say her limit is the sky, but according to current thought the universe is expanding at an ever-increasing rate, rendering such limits both impossible and meaningless. She can, and probably will, do whatever she wants. - Ilosaarirock

"The Magic Gift Box (album review)"

No matter where you listen to the album – at work, at home, in the club, in the woods… you will not be able to sit or stand still. Promised! The perfect album to listen when you have problems with your back or your intervertebral discs, because this music will make you shake your body and limber up. - Nothing but Hope and Passion

"The Magic Gift Box (album review)"

But to her credit, it is sort of amazing that I can say that she’s got the quirk and vocal distinction of singers like Bjork and Kerli, the dark and twisted side of Marilyn Manson, and the pop sensibilities of Imogen Heap on her side. - Notable Dance

"Concert review (Iceland Airwaves)"

"What time is it? Did I miss the first bands playing tonight? Because Iiris are owning the stage like a headlining act. /../ Lead singer Iiris herself is a miniscule fury of squeaky-voiced Kate Bush mania in suspenders. With a dreamcatcher on her mic stand and scarves around her wrist like a witchy woman, she howls insanely over dance-like-no-one’s-watching electrock hits tinged with a healthy dose of new wave punch. - The Reykjavik Grapevine

"Concert review (Finland)"

“Iiris was out of this world. She was full of confidence and sparked the joy of being onstage. - Soundi

"Concert review"

“The band’s intense energy and interdynamics, as well as Iiris’s (lead vocals) bubbly personality and control of the stage set an extraordinary tone for the rest of the evening.” - Nutflicks

"Concert review (The Great Escape)"

“Iiris is in search of strange soundscapes and alt-rock with delicately bold vocals, and it works.” - NME blog

"Bands We Like: Estonia’s Fairy-Voiced Iiris"

“A depressingly few amount of bands have “it.” In fact, I’m pretty sure I didn’t know what “it” was, until I listened to Estonian singer/songwriter/pianist Iiris. Because whatever “it” is, she definitely has it. Iiris has the eclecticism, the smarts, the innovation, the pop sound, not to mention the adorable/pretty image to become a huge mega mega, mega star.” - MTV Iggy

"Dietmar Schwenger on IIRIS at Tallinn Music Week"

“Especially good performance and great songwriting” - MusikWoche

"IIRIS won the Skype's Go Change The World Award!"

Skype has presented an award for one Estonian band performing at the festival — a monetary prize for the artist who Skype, the festival-goers and foreign guests deem the most promising internationally. The band, worthy of Skype's Go Change The World Award must have fresh ideas and innovative DNA, be original, eye-catching and professional enough to succeed in the international arena. The Skype award is presented with a very specific goal in mind — to offer the winning band a chance to advance their career in a real manner. - Tallinn Music Week 2010

Bio

2010 was a year that rocketed Iiris into the spotlight. After the showcase festival „Tallinn Music Week“, Iiris got people talking.

"Especially good performance and great songwriting", said Dietmar Schwenger of MusikWoche.

Invitations from festivals like Popkomm (Germany), Musiikki & Media (Finland), The Great Escape (UK), Positivus (Latvia) and Iceland Airwaves (Iceland) followed soon.

At the beginning of 2011 Iiris became the artist of the week on MTV Iggy’s blog - "A depressingly few amount of bands have “it.” In fact, I’m pretty sure I didn’t know what “it” was, until I listened to Estonian singer/songwriter/pianist Iiris. Because whatever “it” is, she definitely has it. Iiris has the eclecticism, the smarts, the innovation, the pop sound, not to mention the adorable/pretty image to become a huge mega mega, mega star."

Iiris is an artist who is born to be on stage. Wherever she`s been, wherever she`s performed, audience has been left in awe:

Iiris has been compared to many of the greats - Björk, Kate Bush, Regina Spektor and even Florence & The Machine, but she`s always managed to remain original and unique. Her vocals sound hypnotic and fairy-like, she can be commanding and agressive, but when she sits down behind her piano and bares it all - you cannot help but to surrender to this Estonian girl`s talent & beauty.
