Ilan Shahin

Ilan is currently working on his second solo album. A follow-up to 2007's effort, this will be a more sonically intimate piece than its predecessor. This being said, it retains the melancholy, tension-laden profile of Ilan's previous works either as a solo artist or as frontman for Sire. This is passed along like a strong nose from generation to generation - ain't no getting 'round it.

In short, Ilan is a Montrealer, born and bred, and began playing actively as a musician with Sire in 2004. He has since been one long decresendo, trading in danceable beats for intimacy, power chords for fingerpicking, and something else of your choosing for songs that are emotionally raw. But just listen.

In recent years, Ilan has played in many venues in Montreal. Crowds are interested by his guitar and harmonica, drawn in by his voice and silenced by his melodies. Ilan feels strange because he is writing this. Just listen so he doesn't have to do this sort of thing anymore, lest he be forced to use a superlative. It would be the worst.
