Ileana

My name is Ileana and I am 16 years old. I write and perform all my own music with my guitar. To explain my music as best as I can, I would say it's a "little bit country and a little bit rock n' roll". As a writer I feel everything. Every tone of voice affects me a different way. Some may even call me sensitive. But just like anyone else, I don't like to talk about it. What sets me apart is I SING about it. You break my heart? You can bet that night there's going to be a song I wrote about you on the internet, broadcast across facebook for our whole high school to see. Then again it goes both ways. If you catch my heart the right way, within that week no matter how "early in the relationship" it is (or sometimes it hasn't even started) I'm going to sit you down and show you the first of many songs I will write for you.
I'm not scared to show someone I adore them, in fact that's one of my favorite things to do with my music. Playing "hard to get" isn't necessarily my game. That can help and definitely hurt me. But that doesn't stop me. Some people say going about things that way can make you look weak and vulnerable, but from my perspective it shows bravery and confidence, and that's exactly how I want to portray myself to the world.
Right now it's just me and my guitar, Lucky. I received her on Black Friday of 2009. A few days before I was with my uncle and my dad looking for a new guitar, when I came across this stunning Taylor Guitar. I fell in love immediately, but we ended up having to walk away from the deal because it wasn't in the budget at the time. My poppy found out about it and bought it for me and invited me over for lunch. If there's one moment I will always remember is the moment that guitar hit my hands. We both broke into tears. At that moment I realized my love for music and my love for my family. They are everything to me.
My biggest influence is 100% my family. Of course there are the famous people who have inspired me with their stories and incredible music, but you can't achieve anything without encouragement. Ever since I strummed my first chord my Mom said she couldn't wait to hear my first song. Now everytime a boy comes into my life all my family does is try to find words that rhyme with his name for my next "single". I love the fact that even though they joke about it, they are behind me every step of the way. They love to hear me play for them and swear to me every day I'm gonna make it big! Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face.
